Lankum - Livelong Day - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Christoph Martin Wieland's InchDer Vogelsang oder die drey LehrenInch - InchThe Songbird or The Three LessonsInch - first appeared in March of 1778 in the literary-political magazine InchDer Teutsche MerkurInch, which he edited, with the note InchBased on the Lays de l'Oiselet in Fabliaux et Contes etc. Vol. 1. p. 179,Inch referring to a French poem from the 13th century. InchDer VogelsangInch is above all a wonderfully light and yet precisely balanced poetic work, the verses of which come across as naturally as if they weren't verses at all. Nothing is searched for, nothing is Inchfor the sake of rhyming.Inch - In terms of content, InchDer VogelsangInch is, if you like, a didactic piece, but one that is at odds with common moral teachings whoever has something only deserves to have it if he knows how to use it - which in this case means to appreciate it's beauty by enjoying it. The story goes like this. A person foolish both in the intellectual and the emotional sense (Hans) has come in possession of a wonderful piece of land - a castle with a park. He walks around this castle and park and does not recognize the beauty surrounding him. The park has a soul a little bird sings it's songs there - magical songs, because when they cease to sound, the park dies. Hans hears what the bird is singing, and at first finds it entertaining but irrelevant, and later, annoying. He catches the bird in order to sell it for a lot of money. The bird asks for it's life in vain, then offers him a deal it's life for three good lessons.

Warrior River Boys - New Beginnings [COMPACT DISCS] date 02/14/1992

Vinyl LP pressing. Made up of brothers Ian and Daragh Lynch, Cormac MacDiarmada and Radie Peat, Dublin four-piece Lankum have gained worldwide acclaim for their first two albums and captivating, often euphoric live performances. New effort, The Livelong Day successfully blends alternative folk and psychedelia. Lankum honor the sacredness of traditional Irish tunes, but allow them to metamorphose, to grow and breathe like the heavy, ancient breath of the Uilleann pipes which seethe beneath the tracks of their third studio album. InchDrone is a big part of traditional music because the Uilleann pipes are indigenous to Ireland, so we're ramping up that history and taking it as far as we can,Inch notes the group. This is the idea found at the core of the universe created in The Livelong Day; expanding and emboldening that which is already playing out in history. Alongside the traditional songs on the record, there are two originals, the haunting InchYoung PeopleInch and the tragic beauty of InchHunting The Wren.Inch
