Lapalux - Ruinism - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

British producer of exalted electronics Lapalux (aka Stuart Howard) returns to Flying Lotus' Brainfeeder tag for his fourth album. The title InchAmnioverseInch is Incha sort of portmanteau of the amniotic sac and the universe that revolves around notions of fluidity and the notion that birth, life, death, and rebirth is a never ending continuumInch. He channels these ethereal ideas through a new and ever-expanding modular synth set-up, effortless spanning tempos and balancing space and texture, injecting human emotion and layering recordings of weather, wind, rain and fire, to invoke an elemental, celestial feel. Howard cites James Turrell (an American artist primarily concerned with Light and Space) as a primary inspiration for the music on InchAmnioverseInch. He also reconnects with Icelandic vocalist JFDR on 'Thin Air' and 'The Lux Quadrant', as well as new vocalist Lilia on 'Limb To Limb'. InchFor me the real focus was that the whole record flowed,Inch he says. InchI worked on each song sequentially and wouldn't stop working on a session until they threaded together and told the story that I wanted to tell.InchSIDE A1. Oblivion2. Voltaic Acid3. Lapalux knew where and how his sound should change with a second album. As a result, Lustmore feels like a record as compulsively inspired and meticulously crafted as you're likely to hear in 2015. Lustmore is loosely based on the experience of hypnogogia, a transitional state of consciousness between wakefulness and sleep. Listeners familiar with his 2011 debut, Nostalchic, will know that Stuart Howard's woozy, infectious rhythms, enveloping textures and unfamiliarly familiar melodies conjure that territory perfectly. Lapalux attracted the direct attention of Brainfeeder tag owner and electronic music icon Flying Lotus in 2010, and was quickly snapped up by the imprint. Acclaimed early EPs were followed by a number of remixes including Bonobo, Andreya Triana, Lianne La Havas amongst others, before his debut album Nostalchic arrived in 2011. On it's Mojo asserted that 'Lapalux has joined the ranks of contemporary electronica's finest, like FlyLo himself.' The album was a high watermark, and a statement of intent by a young producer who was pushing electronic music forward. Album Tracks 1. U Never Know (feat. Andreya Triana) 2. Sum Body 3.
