About this product
Swedish bassist/cellist Lars Danielsson is a master improviser, who completely engages listeners by taking them on journeys of both pleasure and wonder, with themes which are always expressive and song-like. He is far too classy and refined a musician to indulge in superficial virtuosic display. Danielsson's well-honed, naturally lyrical improvisational lines remain at the service of the flow of the music, something particularly noticeable when he steps forward and takes on the role of soloist. These core traits are also there in his extensive and much-praised work as arranger, composer and bandleader of his successful InchLiberetttoInch ensemble. Classical music and jazz are the two determining poles of Danielsson's musical career. With his double album InchSymphonizedInch, Lars Danielsson is now fulfilling a dream In 2017 Lars Danielsson was comissioned by the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra to write an own piece for the them, his InchConcerto for English Horn and ContrabassInch was born. Two years later it was recorded with Carolina Grinne as soloist on English horn and oboe. Later, the opportunity arose to record extra material at the same location. The idea of a Inchbest-ofInch project with a difference, with pieces from Liberetto in orchestral form, was born. A full orchestra with 79 members and guest soloists was involved, with Peter Nordahl as conductor for both recordings. A cinematic wide-screen music has emerged, with echoes of Claus Ogermann, Nino Rota or Ennio Morricone, perhaps. And from there it is not too far to thoughts of Maurice Ravel, to whom Claude Debussy once said InchPleasure is the law.Inch This pleasure is palpable on the recordings. Supple, with timbres and textures in balance, and full of melodic variety, events unfold in a way which creates enjoyment. Limited vinyl LP pressing. This 1981 album by prolific jazz and fusion artist Chick Corea is one of his most enduring titles, full of passionate interplay between saxophonist Michael Brecker, bassist Eddie Gómez and drummer Steve Gadd. Though the pianist's arrangements are fully modern jazz, Corea was initially inspired by classical compositions for string quartets when writing the suite. InchQuartet No. 1Inch uses a one-chord (G altered) solo vamp over a rock beat in 3/4, and a repeated theme that uses stacked fourths. The second track, InchQuartet No. 2 (Part I)Inch is a ballad, dedicated to jazz pioneer Duke Ellington, incorporating many of the Western classical harmonies and tensions that Ellington used in much of his playing. InchQuartet No. 2 (Part II)Inch is dedicated to jazz saxophone legend John Coltrane.

2014 2X vinyl LP pressing. Jarrett & Haden broaden the scope of their duo project to showcase jazz classics like Thelonious Monk's Round Midnight and Bud Powell's spritely Dance of the Infidels. Love songs, however, are to the fore in this selection, with tender versions of My Old Flame, My Ship, It Might As Well Be Spring, Everything Happens to Me, & Every Time We Say Goodbye as well as alternate takes of Where Can I Go Without You and Goodbye, every bit as touching as the Jasmine renditions. 'When we play together it's like two people singing', said Jarrett of his reunion with Haden. The intentions of the song are honored, the shades of meaning in a melody or a lyric explored instrumentally. As Charlie Haden put it, 'Keith really listens, and I listen'. That's the secret. It's about listening'. The music of Last Dance was recorded at Keith Jarrett's home studio.

Most of the music on InchKoanInch consists of new compositions. All the songs are dedicated in some way or another to family members, friends, and musicians, but most of all to the Japanese people. Koan is a method of questions and answers to evaluate a monk's state of spirituality, such as InchWhat is the sound of one hand clapping?Inch For me, music is a kind of Koan; the experience of it and how music affects people is beyond our rational understanding. I have always loved and respected the Japanese people and their culture. I would like to honor the victims of the 2011 tsunami with this music. (Lars Jansson)
