Late Bloomer - Waiting - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Scoring the lives of small-time players, pimps, junkies, and prostitutes lurking around hissimultaneously blessed and cursed existence,Wee mastermind Norman Whiteside lived inan entirely different Columbus than Capsoul'sBill Moss or Prix's Clem Price. Alternatingbetween Stevie Wonder's dreamy soul and SlyStone's druggy groove, You Can Fly On MyAeroplane bypasses Whiteside's everyday grittystreet life reality, focusing instead on theairy sounds of fantasy and masquerade. ThisLP version replicates the original nine-songalbum as originally released on Owl records.Smooth, sexy, and synthy, You Can Fly OnMy Aeroplane is a peerless and sprawlingpsychedelic soul concept album and a surefire undergarment soaker to boot.

In short order, the young Nashville band has risen from humble beginnings playing the Nashville house party scene and DIY art gatherings to performing at festivals like Bonnaroo and Forecastle and sharing bills with the likes of Rostam and Cold War Kids. With 'Wait,' Arlie make good on the potential exhibited on their early singles. Lead single Barcelona bootsInch is a swirl of washed-out synths and Banks' yearning falsetto, while Inchtoo longInch is a sighing ballad underpinned with psychedelic atmospherics. On the EP's closer - the tropical, hazy Inchtossing and turningInch - Arlie turns a self-deprecating eye on a superficial generation so fixated on projecting a lifestyle that they miss out on living the actual life.
