LCD Soundsystem - American Dream - CASSETTES

German soprano Ruth-Margret Putz made her debut in Cologne in 1950 as Nuri in Tiefland by Eugen d'Albert. She sang at Hannover Opera from 1951 to 1957; in Stuttgart from 1957 notably as Gilda and Zerbinetta; at the Beyreuth Festival in 1960 as Waldvogel, and at the Salzburg Festival in 1961. She made a Russian tour in 1961 as well, and was on the roster of the Hamburg Staatsoper from 1963 to 1968. As far as commercial recordings go, however, not many exist. It is all the more rewarding, therefore, that this album offers twenty-first century listeners the opportunity of acquainting themselves with Ruth-Margret Putz's wide-ranging vocal ability and artistic attributes. Here is a singer who now enjoys a quiet life in a retirement home near Stuttgart, but remains mentally alert, and who still has much to impart to us.

Fly Anakin is a rapper and producer who approaches his craft in a way few contemporaries can. Vigilant yet unorthodox, DIY-minded yet prolific, the Richmond, Virginia multihyphenate's razor-sharp lyrics, ear for soulful production, and collaborative synergy are the result of over a decade of fundamental mastery. Described by Madlib as Inchone of the illest MCs,Inch the Mutant Academy cofounder was in his pocket well ahead of his acclaimed solo debut, Frank (2022). After years of consistent releases with his collective, Anakin broke major ground in 2020 with his and Pink Siifu's joint project FlySiifu's, followed by their $mokebreak EP in 2021. A student of the East Coast's golden age, Anakin transmutes it's spirit into music that's both classicist and pioneering, having worked with the likes of Freddie Gibbs, redveil, BbyMutha, and MAVI. With the of a Mutant Academy debut album completed, and his solo album (The) Forever Dream imminent, Anakin has cemented his place as a leader in rap's underground Renaissance.(The) Forever Dream commemorates a new era of freedom for Anakin, who rarely approaches bodies of work without a preconceived concept. Executive produced by Quelle Chris, the project, which features the likes of Denmark Vessey, The Alchemist, BbyMutha, and Pink Siifu, includes songs that Anakin believes are some of his most experimental and ambitious. InchThe album is me and Quelle kicking it, smoking, learning each other, and playing video games,Inch he says of the project's inspiration and recording process. InchIt was time to make some mindless music, to tackle production I would've otherwise picked up.Inch The long anticipated project comes after years of Anakin and Quelle developing a strong rapport, stemming back to 2019. InchQuelle is one of the best collaborators ever-he's not biased but he knows what he likes, open minded but stubborn at the right tim

Since their debut as Brijean, the project ofpercussionist/singer-songwriter Brijean Murphy(the percussive heartbeat for live bands like Mitski,Poolside, and Toro y Moi) andmulti-instrumentalist/producer Doug Stuart hasmoved with ingenuity, fusing psych-popabstraction with dance floor sensibilities. Throughthe body and mind, rhythm and lyricism, theymake sense of the worlds around and within; 2021'sFeelings celebrated self-reflection; 2022's Angeloprocessed loss, coinciding with the duo's firstheadlining tour, which doubled down on thematerial's desire to move. Now, across the playfulexpanse of Macro, arriving in 2024 on GhostlyInternational, Brijean engages different sides ofthemselves, the paradox of being alive. They'veleveled up to meet the complexities and harmoniesof the human experience with their most dynamicsongwriting yet. Colorful, collaborative, sophisticated, and deeply fun, the album animatesa macrocosm with characters, moods, and points ofview rooted in the notion that no feeling is final andthe only way out is through.
