Leather Lung - Lonesome On'ry & Evil - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Let's get this party started! The incorrigible headbangers in Leather Lung have heard the pleas of their enthusiastic following to bring forth a new album of substance-fueled boogie metal, and have obliged at last with the raucous new full-length InchGraveyard GrinInch. The proper debut album from the New England five-piece has everything promised by their previous EP releases a thick, chugging concoction of stoner metal, doom, and unrelenting sludge, blended into a refreshingly heavy brew with a catchy kick. Leather Lung are a wild bunch that know the meaning of fun. This is hardly surprising as the band sprang into existence out of friendship and the punk and hardcore scene of Boston in 2012. Starting as a four-piece, they quickly gained an excellent reputation in their local scene, as well as plenty of critical attention through a string of EPs, starting with InchReap What You SowInch (2014) and followed in regular intervals by InchLost in TemptationInch (2016), InchLonesome, On'ry and EvilInch (2019), and InchDive Bar DevilInch (2022). Now a five-piece with the addition of a second guitarist, Leather Lung are ready to take on the world. Following crushing live appearances at DesertFest New York and Psycho Las Vegas, the band return with InchGraveside GrinInch, a massive sign that these Eastcoast freaks are ready for the road and amped to get the global party going.

What did Haydn sound like while he was on tour in London, giving concerts and teaching? Today, nobody perhaps comes closer to the sound from that time than Rebecca Maurer, who plays here on her original London fortepiano from 1816. Furthermore, the internationally sought-after fortepiano virtuoso does this with dazzling technique and immaculate stylistic confidence. The repertoire is also sensational, above all because it is not every day that one finds world premiere recordings by Haydn students on program flyers fragrant music of Sentimentalism with some hints of Romanticism by Thomas Haigh and Christian Ignatius Latrobe. Outstanding repertoire! Equally at home on the fortepiano and harpsichord, Rebecca Maurer is acclaimed as one of the outstanding specialists for historical keyboard instruments of her generation. She studied piano, harpsichord and fortepiano in Freiburg, Amsterdam and at Cornell University where she held a fellowship. Her previous recording was nominated for the Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik as well as for an International Classical Music Award in the Baroque instrumental category.

When you find yourself adrift at zero gravity with a dreamy smile on your face, you've probably booked a flight into space on Black Lung's latest inter-dimensional transport InchForever BeyondInch. The veteran trio from Baltimore, Maryland have fine-tuned the recipe of their musical rocket fuel, distilled from stoner doom, psychedelic rock, and other fiery ingredients. Black Lung's unique concoction drives every track with captivating tunes, melodic riffing, pumping rhythms, and the inimitable vocal cords of Dave Cavalier taking it home. Every single song on InchForever BeyondInch hits it's mark perfectly. Undertones of anger and defiance manifest as many of the songs are artistic reactions to the historic political upheaval in the USA, dealing lyrically with the lure of fascism, blind nationalism, and corporate oligarchy. Black Lung came into being when two founding members of Baltimore's well-established psych rock band THE FLYING EYES, guitarist and organ player Adam Bufano and drummer Elias Schutzman, teamed up with multi-instrumentalist Dave Cavalier in early 2014. The trio set themselves apart from the crowded field of psych doom and heavy blues with a sonic interchange of fuzzed-drenched guitars, deep driving drumbeats, and Cavalier's raw, blues-tinged vocals. During the pandemic years, Black Lung managed to push forward with new guitarist Dave Fullerton, which resulted in the fourth album InchDark WavesInch. On this milestone, they abandoned some pet ideas such as eschewing bass guitar live in favour of guitars through bass amps, along with the black and white aesthetics that had dominated their artwork of their first three full-lengths. With InchForever BeyondInch, Black Lung demonstrate that it is possible to rage against injustice with an utmost joyful defiance!
