Lee Sain - We'll Meet Again / Tell My Baby - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Candice Hoyes, Mimi Jones, and Val Jeanty - the visionary forces behind Nite Bjuti - are architects of a new New York City sound. United by a boundary-pushing spirit, they fuse turntables, rhythmic bass, and poetic lyricism to honor the community and lineage of the Caribbean diaspora. Born from reflections on love and communal resilience, Minwi looks toward a future rooted in empathy and mutual care. They treat the creation of 'home' as an ongoing, collective practice - a necessary response to the systemic challenges and displacement currently facing Black, Brown, and immigrant communities across the globe. As Karen Gabay says in the liner notes InchThis album is a rarity in the 21st centuryInch and in a statement accompanying the album, guest flautist Nicole Mitchell declares that InchWhat Candice, Val and Mimi are doing with Nite Bjuti will be imprinted into the history of this time and space for Black women a cross the Atlantic (...) This is not a group climbing for recognition. This is a collective with a soulful mission.Inch We proudly and joyfully welcome Nite Bjuti to the Intakt Records family!

2019 from the the Grammy Award- winning musician, songwriter and go-to collaborator/producer. This collection is Raphael's first new album in eight years, and is the follow-up to 2011's Stone Rollin.' Jimmy Lee is a deeply personal, musically ambitious work inspired by his brother's struggles with addiction that explores the razor's edge people walk as they pursue pleasure that leads to pain - a brilliantly incisive and empathetic work from a master at the peak of his art. The album takes the listener from Saadiq's native Oakland to Rikers Island as he traces the everyday struggles of addiction and incarceration, taking in both the thrills and pitfalls he witnessed throughout his brother's life. Comprising narcotic funk, steely gospel affirmations, and quaking protest soul, Jimmy Lee is a resonant examination of modern life, in all it's exuberance, destruction and consequence.
