Les Lunes du Cousin Jacques - Joshua - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Les Lunes du Cousin Jacques - Suites for Harpsichord 2 [COMPACT DISCS] date 04/30/2013

Acknowledged without reservation as the greatest composer working in England in the 18th century, Georg Frideric Handel is revered worldwide as a master composer. His Harpsichord Suites are among the finest instrumental works of the period, and eight of those are presented here by Gilbert Rowland, one of Europe's foremost harpsichordists.

This project has been created on the basis of the common history and roots of the three monotheistic. Religions Islam, Christianity and Judaism. On this double disc set, musicians from the (Western) European Baroque tradition (and from a Christian background), are joined by musicians from Jewish and Muslim backgrounds. In addition to the Israeli oud player and violinist Yair Dalal, a Jewish cantor and several musicians from Arabic and Muslim cultures are also involved. The idea is not so much a confrontation of musical and narrative levels, but rather a collective molding of the story of Israel in Egypt.
