This brand new plastic model kit features the Boulton Paul Defiant Mk.I Aircraft at Level 1 in 1/72 scale by Airfix. The kit comes in vintage-style, officially licensed packaging and contains 70 detailed parts molded primarily in light gray, unless otherwise indicated. A display stand is not included, and paint and cement are required for assembly. The assembled model measures approximately 6 inches in length and 6.5 inches in wingspan. The Boulton Paul Defiant Mk.I, introduced in 1937, was a unique British interceptor designed as a "turret fighter," featuring a turret-mounted four .303 Browning machine guns to engage enemy bombers with a 360-degree firing range. Initially effective during operations such as the Dunkirk evacuation in May 1940, the Defiant Mk.I achieved notable success against Luftwaffe bombers. However, during the Battle of Britain, German pilots adapted by attacking from below, exploiting the aircraft's lack of forward-firing guns and relatively slow speed, which led to heavy losses and its withdrawal from frontline day-fighting duties by August 1940.
