About This Item

This brand new plastic model kit features the M10 Gun Motor Carriage (GMC) Tank Destroyer with two scheme options at Level 3 in 1/35 scale, produced by Airfix. The kit comes in vintage-style, officially licensed packaging and contains over 100 detailed parts molded primarily in light brown, unless otherwise indicated. A display stand is not included, and paint and cement are required for assembly. Decals are provided to create two different schemes, with the assembled model measuring approximately 7.67 inches in length and 3.42 inches in width. The M10 GMC was the first tank destroyer to be mass-produced by the United States during World War II, entering service in 1942. Built on the M4 Sherman chassis, it featured a fully rotating open-topped turret armed with a powerful 3-inch (76.2 mm) gun, prioritizing mobility and firepower over armor in line with U.S. tank destroyer doctrine that emphasized speed and aggressive anti-armor tactics. The M10 first saw combat in North Africa, providing crucial firepower against German Panzer III and IV tanks, and later played key roles in the Italian Campaign, the Normandy landings, and the Allied advance through France. While its gun struggled against the front armor of late-war German tanks like the Panther and Tiger, its mobility and ability to strike from the flanks made it effective in skilled hands. The M10 also served with Allied forces through Lend-Lease, including British and Free French units, though its use in the Pacific was limited. Gradually replaced by the more powerful M36 Jackson and M18 Hellcat by war’s end, the M10 remained in service with various nations postwar due to its reliability and versatility. This 1:35 scale model captures the M10’s rugged, battle-proven silhouette with accurate detailing of the open turret, gun elevation, and combat stowage, making it a must-have for collectors and WWII history enthusiasts.
