The one star review is 100% related to the lack of customer support. The first thing you will notice with this unit is that the trim piece doesn't fit around it. When you call customer support, they have no idea what the trim piece is. Once you direct them to the section of the manual where it calls out the trim piece, they almost understand. The support person says that it's a known issue and will send a replacement, which they promptly send the wrong part. Another call later, and they still don't understand what the trim piece is... finally they get it and say they will send the right part... this time they only send half of it... They couldn't figure out the trim piece issue and promised to call back. They called, but then hung up when I answered and never bothered to call back. The installation instructions are a joke. It's like the person who wrote them has never seen the unit, let alone installed one. There is no way to relay how frustrating it is to work with LG support. I finally decided to make my own trim piece and that fixed that part of the issue. The unit itself seems to work pretty well, it's quiet and puts out cold air. I finally ignored the installation instructions and got the thing installed despite LG's best efforts to thwart installation with their awful instructions.

The "thru-wall" unit in my apartment ceased to work in the middle of summer this year, so I definitely needed a replacement. Unfortunately, the make/model currently installed was no longer produced by the manufacturer or available at any retailer. So, I set about to find a reasonably suited replacement for it, with the help of the maintenance guys for my apartment complex. After a few dead ends, we located this particular make/model on the Best Buy website. I then went to the nearest Best Buy store location and placed my order for delivery to my residence. Upon arrival & inspection, I discovered that the box was rather damaged in (UPS) shipment. Subsequently, upon installation, I found the unit to rather damaged itself (fan assembly "lathing" & unbalanced causing noises that resembeled a motorcycle idling and there was no control to the fan speed and other functions, but it did blow cold air, so that was at least good). I went back to the Best Buy store of purchase and had to order another one and pay for it up front before I could have it delivered to the store this time, which gave me time to get the broken one to store for a refund at my leisure. The sales & management staff at this best buy were very helpful in rectifying the situation. Upon delivery on my new AC unit to the store, I immediately went to pick it up and drop off the damaged one for refund same day. All went well. After inspecting the box at the store, I got the new AC unit back to my apartment, installed it myself this time and it fits & operates perfectly in the "thru-wall sleeve" that it was actually not designed and built for in the first place. Bottom line here...trust Best Buy, but shipping entities, no so much. If you have a "thru-wall sleeve" in your apartment or home with dimensions that will accomodate this unit, I would highly recommend it 10/10...just have it delivered to the store and go pick it up yourself.
