The Energy Star® Qualified LG 36-in Counter-Depth MAX 25.5 Cu. Ft. French Door Smart Refrigerator with Ice Plus - PrintProof™ Stainless Steel Look, Model # LF26C6230V, does not require an additional part to work without a filter. It has a built-in water filter bypass mechanism. When the filter is removed, the mechanism blocks the filter housing to allow unfiltered water to continue flowing to your dispenser and ice maker. The filter manifold (the head where the filter twists in) contains a spring-loaded diverter valve. When you twist and remove the old water filter, the valve automatically shifts, bridging the inlet and outlet lines so the water line stays open. Bypassing the filter means the water and ice produced will be exactly the same quality as your home's tap water. If you have a dedicated inline Reverse Osmosis Water Filtration System or an external whole-house filter, you do not have to use an LG water filter...^Ivan.
