Q: Can the detergent dispenser be removed for cleaning?
A: Hello there. The detergent dispenser of this 4.5 cu. ft. Capacity Smart Front Load Energy Star Washer with TurboWash® 360° and AI DD® Built-In Intelligence (WM5500HVA) can be removed for cleaning. Here are the steps: 1 Turn off the washer, and unplug the power cord. 2 Pull the drawer straight out until it stops. 3 Press down hard on the disengage button in the middle and pull the drawer completely out. 4 Remove the inserts from the drawer. 5 Clean the inserts and drawer with warm water. 7 Use a soft cloth or brush to clean and to remove any residue. 8 Do not use soap when cleaning the drawer and inserts. 6 Wipe off any moisture with a dry towel or cloth after cleaning. 7 To clean the drawer opening, use a small, non-metal brush to clean the recess. Remove all residue from the upper and lower parts of the recess. 8 Replace the drawer. ^Jolly
Q: Hello I am looking at the WM4000 and the WM5500. What are the differences between the 2?
A: Hi there. Thank you for sharing your inquiry with us. We understand your situation and appreciate the opportunity to help clarify the differences between the WM5500HWA and WM4000HWA models. Both washers share a similar capacity of 4.5 cu. ft. and are equipped with LG’s Inverter Direct Drive Motor with a 10-year warranty, ensuring a reliable and efficient performance. However, there are a few key differences between them: • Washer Programs and Options: - The WM5500HWA offers a broader range of customization with 25 washer programs and 15 washer options. - The WM4000HWA, on the other hand, features 12 washer programs and 13 options. This means the WM5500HWA is designed to give you more versatility in cycle selection and advanced features like AI Wash. • User Interface and Display: - The WM5500HWA comes with touch buttons and an LCD display for an intuitive, modern experience. - The WM4000HWA uses hard buttons paired with an LED display. Your choice may depend on your preference for tactile feedback versus a touchscreen interface. • Control Panel and Aesthetics: - The WM5500HWA features a control panel with a painted steel finish, lending it a premium feel. - The WM4000HWA’s control panel is made of plastic, which might differ in durability and look. Additionally, the available finish options differ slightly: the WM5500HWA is offered in Graphite Steel and White, while the WM4000HWA is available in Black Steel and White, which could influence the overall design and match with your home décor. • Additional Features: Both models include LG’s Dial-A-Cycle™, True Balance® Anti-Vibration System, and smart features such as Wi‑Fi connectivity and SmartDiagnosis™ (v3.0). However, the enhanced programmability and touch interface on the WM5500HWA might make it the preferred option for those seeking a more advanced washing experience. Troubleshooting Tip: If you decide to compare these models in your home, we recommend performing a quick functionality test once the unit is installed. For instance, verify that the control panel buttons (or touchscreen) respond accurately and that your selected cycles start correctly. Running a diagnostic cycle or a tub clean can be a great way to ensure everything is working as expected. https://www.lg.com/us/washers-dryers/lg-wm5500hwa-front-load-washer#pdp_specs For further assistance or if you have more detailed questions regarding installation or features, please send us a private message on Social Media @LGUSSupport, and our team will be more than happy to help. Q: Model: LG wm5500hva - How quiet is this washing machine? What is the highest decibel level?
A: Quiet as a mouse.
Q: Does the washer door stay open to prevent odors when not in use?
A: Yes. There is a partial catch which allows air past the seal when not in use.
A: Normal wash is about 1 hour. You can do a quick wash for lightly soiled items. AI wash is touted as adjusting itself to load size but I haven’t used this. Lastly you can try small load but be careful if you even put a little too much soap in, machine will indicate too many suds and will take two hours to wash ! I’ve done this and had to turn off the washer and then do a spin cycle to get water out of the clothes.
A: Hello there, Loree. We understand your inquiry about your LG Front Load Washer (Model WM5500HWA) and whether it plays the same end-of-cycle chime as the matching dryer. Both the WM5500HWA washer and its counterpart dryers use the same default “End-of-Cycle” melody, and unfortunately, there is no way to switch to a different tune. The chime itself (that brief melody) is identical on both units. To help you tell them apart, here are a few suggestions: Adjust the Volume on One Unit • On the WM5500HWA washer, press the Options button > turn the dial to select Additional Settings > press ✔ (OK) > scroll to Signal > press ✔ (OK) > choose Off, Low, Medium, High, or Very High and press ✔ (OK) to save. This lets you make one machine much quieter or even mute it completely (while keeping the dryer’s signal loud), so you’ll know which one finished based on volume alone. • On the matching dryer (for example, DLEX5500W or DLGX5501W), press Options > Additional Settings > Signal and select the volume level. You can leave this at a louder setting while the washer is on Quiet or Off. Use the LG ThinQ® App for Distinct Alerts • If both washer and dryer are connected to Wi-Fi, enable push notifications in the ThinQ app for “Cycle Complete” alerts on each machine. This way, when the washer finishes, you’ll get a phone notification labeled “WM5500HWA cycle complete,” and when the dryer finishes, you’ll receive “DLEX5500W cycle complete,” for example. The visual app alert helps you distinguish regardless of the chime tone. Create a Simple Habit • Some users find it helpful to leave the washer door slightly ajar when both units are stacked. That way, you can glance at the washer door light or hear even the softer signal more clearly. • Or place a small note or colored sticker on each unit—listen for the chime, then look for that sticker to know exactly which one finished. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lg-4-5-cu-ft-high-efficiency-stackable-smart-front-load-washer-with-steam-and-turbowash-360-white/6532172.p?skuId=6532172 If you’d like step-by-step guidance on adjusting volume, setting up ThinQ notifications, or any other setup, please send us a private message on social media @LGUSSupport. We’ll be happy to walk you through each screen and setting to ensure you can immediately tell which cycle has ended. We appreciate your patience and are here to help with any further questions. —Renzo

Q: Is the door hinge side changeable?
A: I do not believe it can be changed. There are no pre drilled holes for the door on the opposite side. The hinge is on the left side of the door.
