Nightmare to Install

I had big problems doing the installation. There are two plastic clips which are to be inserted into the metal frame; these parts did not fit at all. I had to widen the openings on the metal case with a drill and file to get them in and then glue them. See photo. There's no excuse for this. Also, there is no design or instructions for installing into a vinyl window or for using a support bracket. I had to cut off some plastic to get this in. Finally, the front cover did not fit, and I had to drill a hole and put a screw in. Unless you are handy with tools and comfortable with improvising solutions, look elsewhere.

Lg AC has alot issues

The air conditioner had alot issues. The plastic parts kept failing off.i had to put tape to keep everything together. Some of the parts didnt even fit well. I had engineering other ways to keep the parts in place. Stay away and get a better air conditioner.

Would have gave 5 stars but the side curtains supplied are bad qaulity and hard to make work. Ended up using 2.5 inch black foam. Instructions on this front not very well thought out. The unit itself works well. It is quiet and cools well.

Problematic chassis installation design.

This may be an excellent air conditioner (see my review of the 8,000 BTU LG air conditioners we also bought and are very happy with), but we were unable to install this one. The 12,000 BTU model has a slide-chassis, which is okay, but the two lower guides for the side curtain panels -- which also secure the bottom of the unit in the window -- are snap-in pieces made of easily broken plastic (see the installation instructions in the manufacturer's Use and Care Manual). One of the pieces snapped into place, but the chassis rail on the other side was poorly manufactured and the plastic guide absolutely would not fit. Really a poor design and choice of material, so we returned the unit. Given that we were very satisfied with the other LG 8,000 BTU units, we're going to wait till next year to make our purchase of a 12,000 BTU unit. Hopefully by then, LG will have improved the design and changed the lower curtain guides to welded & durable heavy-gauge steel (as in other similar AC units) instead of the current snap-on plastic guides.

STEER CLEAR OF THIS DIY PROJECT. Does not cool

It does not cool it’s quiet though. I brought two and had to send one back because it arrived broken and LG stated they could not help horrible customer service do not buy this product if you want to cool down any part of your house. Also did I mention it is a DiY project you have to take apart the AC to add screws and put the front compartment on which is not advertised anywhere.
