Does it have to be a flush fit? If my counter is not flush with the cabinets beneath it, should the dishwasher be flush with the cabinets or with the counter?

The exact cabinet cutout dimensions are a width of 24", a depth of 24" and a height of 33 5/8 inches to 34 1/2 inches minimum. The unit itself is slightly smaller than the opening to ensure a clean, flush integration with your cabinetry The LG Installation Manual specifies that you must leave a minimum clearance of at least 0.1 inches (2 mm) between the sides of the dishwasher and the cabinet walls, and the unit must be located within 12 feet of your sink for proper drainage plumbing. Standard kitchen countertops are not flush with standard kitchen base cabinets. Instead, they typically feature an overhang to protect your cabinetry and hardware. Standard base kitchen cabinets have a depth of 24 inches from the wall to the front face of the cabinet door, whereas standard kitchen countertops are typically cut to a depth of 25.5 inches. That is by design. The overhang prevents spilled liquids, crumbs, and water from running down the edge of the counter directly into your cabinet drawers, doors, or hardware. It ensures that your cabinet knobs, pulls, and handles do not stick out past the countertop edge, preventing you from bumping into them while working in the kitchen. A "24-inch" label usually refers to the cabinet cutout space it occupies rather than the precise measurement of the appliance chassis. Many standard units measure slightly less than 24 inches deep so the main body fits inside a standard 24-inch-deep base cabinet box without hitting the back wall. This high-temperature rinse option can reach temperatures high enough to meet the NSF/ ANSI Standard 184 test criteria for dishes and glasses. Only High Temp. option has been designed to meet the requirements for NSF/ANSI Standard 184 test criteria. There is no intention, either directly or indirectly, that all cycles on a certified machine have passed for NSF 184. The NSF/ANSI Standard 184 is a certification developed by NSF International that establishes minimum public health and sanitation requirements for residential dishwashers. It verifies that a dishwasher's sanitizing cycle effectively eliminates foodborne bacteria and removes heavy food soil from dishes...^Ivan.
