LG - xboom Bounce Portable Bluetooth Speaker - Black

This portable Bluetooth speaker sounds amazing, has some cool unique features and lasts forever on a charge. Speakers like this are commonly available from just about every company, but this one really packs a punch with style and substance. Highlights: * Gets loud with great bass and clear sound. * Convenient local buttons including a custom Favorite button. * Handy elastic strap for carrying and hanging. * Waterproof, dust-proof and shock resistant. * Attractive lighting effects that aren’t gimmicky. * Useful app for adjusting settings. * Replaceable battery. * 6-Band Graphic EQ, AI Sound, etc. * Can share or link multiple speakers for a larger sound stage. Suggestions for Improvement: * Shortcut buttons are difficult to differentiate and read in low-light. * Be careful resting anything on top as it will likely rattle off. Setup: Starting with the unboxing experience, this speaker really shines. Open the box and you’re presented with the speaker, a USB-C to C cord (any will do, though), and a simple Getting Started guide printed on the inside of the lid. Plug the speaker in to a suitable USB-C power adapter and charge it up. There’s a small LED just above the USB-C port to indicate power and charging status but as usual, it’s kinda useless if you’re color blind as the difference between “charging” and “charged” is a slight color change. At least it will remind you that the speaker is on even if no sound is playing and no light show is going on. Inside the lid of the box are the basics of “turn it on” and “put in bluetooth pairing mode” along with two QR codes; one to get the free LG ThinQ app and one for a web page with helpful videos. While not necessary for anyone who has paired a bluetooth headset or speaker before, the setup videos available from the second QR code are actually helpful. They even show you how to change audio output for your device and how to swap out the battery when it no longer accepts a charge. Usage: Unlike many other speakers, just a simple tap of the power button will turn this speaker on or off rather than having to hold it for 3-5 seconds each time. Once on, a neat sound and lighting effect will play and it will reconnect to the last-used source. The light bar at the front lower edge is really nice. It’s used for both status and information as well as a visualization during playback. For example, tapping a volume button will represent the volume level with the length of the light bar. The buttons are really useful but they are a tad hard to see in dim light or from the side. There are discrete buttons for power, volume up and down, a single track control button, bluetooth pairing, linking for party or stereo mode, and the “favorites” button that can be customized in the app. The Favorite button can be set to specific music/audio sources or playlists, your desired sound mode, light mode, sleep timer, etc…all with a single button press. The Link button can be used to create a group of compatible LG speakers that all will share the same music. If you have two of the same model (xboom Bounce in this case), you can set them up as a stereo pair. While this speaker has good stereo sound on its own, you can really create a nice stereo effect with two of them. The usual multipoint pairing is available but this LG speaker has some nice tricks. It can do the usual connection of say your phone and your tablet, but you can also set it up to pair to multiple phones and each can “push” music to the speaker in sequence- fun if you’re with a group of people who all have music on their phones to share with the single speaker. The lighting and eq effects can be changed in the app or you can leave it up to the AI to set them based on what’s playing. The built-in microphone can be used for phone calls but it’s also used for AI sound optimization based on the environment around the speaker. For status feedback, you can choose from Sound Effects, Voice Guidance or neither. The voice isn’t bad, I liked the default setting of sound effects better. Enough with the features - let’s move on to the sound. This speaker has two front-firing tweeters and a center woofer with top-firing radiators that really shake with the beats. They move so much that you should be careful to not rest your phone on top of the speaker when it’s playing as it will likely be vibrated off and fall. The sound stage is clear and wide for a speaker of this size. You can also place the speaker on its back with the tweeters firing up for a wider sound in a group setting. I found the “standard” eq setting good but the “AI Sound” mode worked well for just about any genre I played. The lighting effects are subtle and fun. You can choose from various pre-set patterns, let it cycle between all of them, or let the AI adjust the pattern based on what’s playing. Feel free to take this speaker just about anywhere. While it won’t float, it will handle substantial water, dust and drops. An IP67 rating means that it can withstand complete immersion in up to 3 feet for water for 30 minutes without damage, and is completely sealed for dust. This all means that it should be safe at the beach, by the pool or in the yard during a heavy rainstorm. You can even hose it off or rinse it off in the sink if it gets dirty, sandy or salty. The elastic strap stores around the back and looks stylish. You can slide your hand behind it for extra grip while holding the speaker or switch it to the front and use it as a either a carry strap or as something to hang the speaker from. With nearly 30 hours of playback on a charge, this should last a full weekend at the beach between charges or several long days by the pool. At 3lbs of carry weight, it’s not something you want to keep on you, but it’s not so heavy that you wouldn’t want to take it with you to where you’re going. The base is suspended on two rubber discs to keep the speaker from vibrating whatever it’s sitting on. These discs have a bit of separation from each other so you just have to be aware of that when choosing a place to set it down. This speaker is ready for repair - once the battery stops holding a full charge, you can easily swap it out with a replacement battery. There’s a waterproof door on the bottom that comes off with four screws and then the battery can be swapped out with a new one rather than throwing out the whole speaker. Even the elastic strap can be swapped out when it no longer retains its shape. Hopefully LG will offer replacement parts for a long time as this speaker will keep you entertained for years to come. Overall, this portable sonic beast sounds great, looks great, is easy to carry, lasts a long time on a charge, and have some really cool and useful features via the app. It should be an awesome companion for wherever you go from the beach to the pool to the campsite, or anything in between.

With summer in full swing, I wanted to take full advantage of the backyard this summer with outdoor fun. One of those being listening to some tunes while out in the yard either working or playing. I went to pull out my old little Bluetooth speaker, only to find out it bit the dust. So might as well upgrade to something that has a lot more Boom while still being portable. So, I decided to pick up the LG xboom Bounce portable Bluetooth speaker. Pros: - LOUD and Quality Sound. - Easy to connect with. - Party Link allows multiple LG Speakers to pair together. Cons: - LG App requires filling out preferences to get to settings. - RBG lights are unnecessary. Setup: LG made it easy to connect with the xboom Bounce, even without the LG ThinQ app you can connect with the speaker to begin playing tunes. I like having the option to use the app or not, in case you want to share your speaker with someone at the party, they don’t have to download an app to share some music. App: So, I usually don’t mind installing the apps to gain access to additional features or settings that enhance the speaker. But in this case, I didn’t appreciate LG locking the settings behind a forced questionnaire about your uses for the speaker and music preferences. There was no skip or cancel, it would push you back out to the home page. This was not only annoying, the answers were then used to “feed” LG’s radio station list which I will probably never use as I’ve got my own paid services I already use. Otherwise, the LG ThinQ is a straightforward app with Sound Effect (EQ) settings, volume control, Lighting control and customization using the MyButton (<3). One of the cool parts of the Sound Effect feature is selecting AI Sound to adjust the EQ in Real-Time for the best sound regardless of what is playing. I found this convenient as I often switch between genre of music, so not having to swap the EQ is a huge plus. I did find the Lighting feature to be a bit much, I understand the appeal for RBG lights as a Gamer, but not everything needs to have RBG on it. Luckily, you can just turn that off in the app too, so off it went after the 2nd day of use. Sound: First thing I have to say is the LG xboom Bounce brings the BOOM! This speaker can get really loud, to the point where it starts to hurt. So be careful about using it in an enclosed space like the garage or a car. I found that 1/3 of max volume was more than enough for me to listen to my music while in the yard. If it was noisy such as a party or mowing the lawn, I could see having to go above the halfway point, but above 2/3 of max volume I was worried my neighbors would complain. SO great for large parties or events! Even at the higher volumes, the music didn’t distort, the sound was still very clear and high quality which was amazing. I’m very impressed with the sound volume and quality of the xboom Bounce. Plus, if you have multiple you can pair them together using the Party Link feature in the app to have them play in sync. This could be a quick and easy way to setup a room or event with music without needing huge speakers and a bunch of cables. Buttons: Like most portable Bluetooth speakers, there are standard buttons on top to help control and connect to the device: Power, Volume Down, Volume Up, Play/Pause, Bluetooth, Party Link, and MyButton. The only 2 that are not standard are Party Link which allows you to sync up multiple LG xboom speakers and MyButton allows for quick actions like playing a specific playlist. But since I mostly stream my music from a third-party app like Amazon Music or Spotify, I didn’t find this all that useful. Battery Life: The xboom Bounce can play for up to 30 hours, which has been plenty of time for my 3-5 hours of use a day. I’ve only charged once since I got the speaker, and still have 40% battery left. The initial charge took about 2 hours, though the speaker was partially charged when I took it out of the box. Charge time will vary based on the charger used, as one is not included with the speaker. Features: The LG xBoom is the perfect outdoor speaker with a IP67 dust and water resistance rating, even if it gets a little wet from rain or splash from a hose the speaker will keep on booming. This is important for any portable speaker as on the go there is always the change of being dropped or spilled on, specially at parties outside. The speaker can act as a portable power bank when on the go, which allows you or anyone with you to charge up their devices. There is a built-in microphone that allows you to take calls using the speaker for both output and input. I found the microphone built into the speaker worked well enough when I was within arms reach of the speaker, but once I got a bit further away it became harder for the caller to hear me. I expected this to be an issue, but for a quick call it works fine. Conclusion: If you need a portable speaker that will bring the BOOM, then the LG xboom Bounce is a perfect portable speaker. With the simple design and straightforward controls, connecting and playing music is easy. The volume and audio clarity is amazing for a portable speaker, which with the IP67 rating is ready for any outdoor party. I’ll be taking the LG xboom Bounce with me this summer and adding it to my list of recommended portable speakers.

The xboom bounce is the ideal size for a portable speaker in my humble opinion. At this size, it's large enough for LG to pack in dual tweeters, a larger woofer and over 30 hours of battery life. This setup gives you a full sound stage for days depending on use. SOUND: The bass is impressively punchy for a speaker of this size, and the dual tweeters deliver crisp vocals even at higher volumes. I didn’t notice much distortion when pushing the XBOOM Bounce to its limits, though the bass can fall flat at lower volumes. As for the preset sound profiles, I found the listening experience more enjoyable after taking a few minutes to customize my own - I couldn’t quite get the punch I wanted from the “Bass Boost” setting. The XBOOM does include AI features that automatically adjust sound profiles on the fly, but I didn’t notice much improvement and ended up relying on my custom profile more often than not. I’d love to see the EQ settings behind each preset mode to use as a baseline for customization, but I imagine the provided options will be more than enough for most users. BUILD: LG always does a great job in this department. The speaker is IP67 water and dust resistant, so take it to the beach, toss it by the pool, or rinse it off if you drop your ice cream on it - just don’t submerge it in more than 3 feet of water for over 30 minutes and you’re good. The one design drawback for me is the elastic strap. Its utility doesn’t really make sense - I get that you can wedge your hand through it for a better grip or flip it to carry like a bag. Both sound great in theory, but let’s be real: the strap will stretch out over time and end up more annoying than helpful once it starts flopping around. I’d spring for a smaller speaker if you’re planning to carry this around all the time. Personally, I’ll just toss it in a beach bag or backpack when I’m on the go. FEATURES: The sound, battery life, ability to charge your phone and water resistance are by far the greatest strengths for the xboom. Everything else like Auracast, AI lighting and linking multiple speakers are nice to have features but don't add a ton of value in my opinion. Typically, when I bust out portable speaker, my buddy Bob isn't whipping out his xboom to sync up and rock out. I'm also not known as the guy carrying around 4 xboom speakers ready to bask in surround sound. The xboom covers what really counts and that's charing my phone in a pinch, having battery life when I forgot to charge it and blastingt great sounding music that makes my friends ask where I bought it. CONCLUSION: The xboom Bounce excels where it matters most in my book. It's defiantly worth picking up and it may be the best speaker I've had at this size and in price range. It's portable enough to take with you when you're on the go but sleek enough to leave it out to enjoy with company.

For the last week, I've been testing the LG Xboom Bounce portable speaker. Overall, it is a good product, especially if you prefer clear, room-filling sound and vocal projection. The bass, on the other hand, is acceptable but lacking when reproducing bass-heavy music. The Xboom bounce has a unique, eye-catching design. On top are the speaker controls and two passive radiators, and in the front are two small dome tweeters, a woofer, and a vibrant gradient light strip that moves with the beat. The back is very spartan, housing the USB-C charging port and the elastic carry strap. It's lightweight, and the nylon mesh covering along with the metal carry strap hinges make the Bounce feel premium. However, the carry strap is already starting to show signs of lost elasticity. As for performance, the Xboom Bounce gets loud enough to fill a large room or an outside deck with vibrant sound. A key feature of this speaker is its capability to phenomenally project voices. Therefore, if you like music that features vocal ranges, such as Soul, Jazz, Acapella, Country, or Pop, I'm certain you will like this speaker. However, if you prefer something like Drum and Bass, Hip-hop, or Techno, you might be disappointed by the speaker's limited bass production. To be clear, I am not saying it is bad; it is just missing some oomph. Bluetooth performs well and pairs rapidly. I was also able to pair two devices simultaneously and be more than 30 feet away from the speaker before it began to stutter. Battery life is outstanding. I played this speaker at about 75% volume for over 10 hours and when I was done, I still had 47% battery left over. With that said, this is a very nice product, and I would recommend it .

Best buy idl don't have problems with you the problem is LG yes I buy the speaker in best buy and the package come open but I pick the oder in October 12 and receive October 15 and only use 3 time an volume 5 or 10 and the speaker come with problems LG they want send the speaker to repair now I waiting to December 3 for the part because they no have the part to repair speaker only have 12 day in my hand only use 3 time because I live a apartment of retired people a now I don't have nothing they don't want to give a new speaker or retund the speaker to receive my refund
