About this product

People who are passionate about music will soon have to carry out careful investigations in the ancient districts of the Austrian musical baroque, because these indeed seem to present themselves today as parts of a land rich in forgotten music. But we want to be quite close to them. With this recording we in fact enter again the period of the late 17th and early 18th centuries and our initiative is particularly interesting with regard to the graceful paths of Austrian violinism. Many have already come to love an important author of that time such as the great von Biber (1644-1704) quoted in the previous album (Austrian Baroque for violin solo) with sequence of his Rosary. But then we proceeded to the discovery of Johann Vilsmayr, who endowed us with his crystal-clear music, which rises towards high horizons. Also underlined by the outstanding interpretation of the violinist Liliana Bernardi, in this second , under the auspices and support of the Associazione Nazionale Italia-Austria. In the present recording we turn to the second part of Vilsmay's InchpartiteInch and of course our interest grows, if we only think of the great surprise stirred up in us by the Salzburg Master on the previous album. After all, to understand him we just dispose of his musical soul, because so little is known about his life. However, there is no wavering we are confronted with a great musician, who makes use of a pure speech, full of curiosity for life. Album Tracks 1. Partita II in Si b magg.~Prelude (Adagio - Presto - Adagio) 2. Partita II in Si b magg.~II. Aria (Allegro) 3. Partita II in Si b magg.~III. Saraband (Adagio) 4. Partita II in Si b magg.~IV. Fantasia (Allegro - Adagio) 5. Partita II in Si b magg.~V. Menuett 6. Partita II in Si b magg.~VI. Aria 7. Partita II in Si b magg.~VII. Menuett 8. Partita II in Si b magg.~VIII. Gavott (Allegro) 9. Partita II in S

Karlsson Barock - Two Orchestral Suites - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Karlsson Barock is possibly the most prominent string ensemble for Baroque music in Northern Europe. On this album, Two Orchestral Suites & Three Arias, the orchestra is expanded with three woodwind play-ers from another important Swedish ensemble The Drottningholm Baroque Ensemble. The first piece on this album is the orchestral suite by Georg Philipp Telemann, Ouverture-Suite in C Major, TWV 55 C6. Telemann's Orchestral Suites - also known as 'Ouvertures' like Bach's - were viewed as the pinnacle of the composer's synthesis of Italian and French styles into something quintessentially German. As an interlude before Bach's orchestral suite, we hear three arias from two tremendously popular operas at the time Alcina by Georg Friedrich Händel and Farnaceby Antonio Vivaldi. To our great joy, the soprano part is performed by Helena Ek, a much-appreciated soloist for early music in Europe. Ms. Ek has an impressively extensive repertoire that spans from early music to con-temporary and she has teamed up with Göran Karlssonin several early music productions. Bach's Orchestral Suite No. 1 in C Major, BWV 1066, concludes this wonderful album. Bach's Four Orchestral Suites have helped challenge, alter and reshape what we understand about the composer. Mostly because we don't often associate Bach, the sober Lutheran organist, with exuberant and joyful dance music. But these are works of considerable maturity and sophistication that deserve their place alongside the great scores of Bach's last decades. From Footprint Records, we wish you an enjoyable listening.
