Dei Farne are musicians; Roy Ole Førland, Ingolf Hella Torgersen and new addition Sondre Veland, and with them, Lindy-Fay has found kindred spirits.Hildring is an intuitively crafted, ornamental and rhythmical record with a dark pop sensibility, channelling the musicians' mutual appreciation of different genres, from dark synth, folk, jazz, noise/experimental, Krautrock, prog rock, and world music. The soundscapes of Hildring are like moonlight shimmering in running water. Synth drones and fluid melodies are deftly-woven together with the organic sounds of acoustic piano, guitars, harmonium and percussion/drums, elevated into something larger than life by Lindy-Fay's extraordinary, expressive vocal style. Lindy-Fay Hella sounds especially liberated on this record, reconnecting to a childhood passion for synths, and her love of InchBlack CelebrationInch by Depeche Mode, attributing her vocal experimentation to Dave Gahan's wide-ranging style. Lindy-Fay also draws powerful inspiration also from traditional Joik singing, unique to the Sámi people of Northern Europe. Lindy-Fay honours her great-grandmother and other Sámi people who suffered injustice when this traditional form was condemned. Harnessing her vocal power is not necessarily about choosing the right words, rather following specific feelings and utilising the voice as an instrument. date November 26, 2021Label By Norse MusicMedia Type CD Digipack w/ 12-pages bookletGenre World Music / Folk Album Tracks 1. A Powys trio whose free-spirited invention and exuberant intensity flows through experimental pop hypnotic, exhilarating and defiantly unique. The Welsh band Islet return with the of their long-awaited new album.Eyelet was recorded at home tucked away in the hills of rural Mid Wales. It took form the months following the birth of band members Emma and Mark Daman Thomas' second child and the death of fellow band member Alex Williams' mother. Alex came to live with Emma and Mark, and the band enlisted Rob Jones (Pictish Trail, Charles Watson) to produce.'Caterpillar' described by Emma as Incha song for my unborn childInch. It's followed by syncopated lullaby 'Good Grief' with it's haunting keyboard hook and icy percussion thawed by Emma's yearning vocals about the quiet strength of generations of women. With nods towards Arthur Russell and Jenny Hval, 'Geese' is a mini symphony of driven electronica inspired by Welsh cultural theorist Raymond Williams' novel People Of The Black Mountains.Young Fathers inflected rhythm can be heard on 'Radel 10' that accompanies the multi-tracked variations of Emma and defiant lyrics that were inspired in part by The Good Immigrant - the landmark anthology of essays on race and immigration by BAME writers.Side A A1 CaterpillarA2 Good GriefA3 TreasureA4 Geese A5 Sgwylfa Rock Side B B1 Radel 10B2 CloudsB3 Florist B4 Moon B5 No Host B6 Gyratory Circus Album Tracks 1.
