The Hydra Pro has been running for over a month without a single drop in signal! After updating from a Linksys Max-Stream AC5400, which garnered complaints of weak or dropped signals have faded away. I live in an older multi-storied home with lace and plaster walls, which means lower levels can suffer obtaining or maintaining a signal with the AC5400. My laptop, which is on the lower floor, has been sailing along at top speeds with this router, and there are no additional nodes. Here's a helpful tip, call the support line before you do anything else! My only problem was the initial setup, especially since I wanted to control the router from my desktop rather than my cell phone. Yes, you're correct, the enclosed "Quick Setup" flyer is a joke, and Linksys' online multi-page PDF user manual is...well, let's say not as helpful as with Linksys' past products. After hours of reading and researching, frustration finally led me to call their support line, where I transferred to a "special technician" (Wizard). The Wizard of the AXE6600 begins telling me to click anywhere on the picture of the cell phones ("magical" area) to get to the application (like I knew to do that!). Then the same Wizard directed me several times to click on 'US' in the fine print at the bottom of the page (like that would have been anyone's first thought). But, once the Wizard finishes guiding you through their secretive download site with hidden click-ables, you're good to go for a long time. Would I recommend this router? Yes! Especially if you have a large home and or an old(er) home.

Speed and range of the router is great for this price

Honestly, for someone that wants some basic wifi with ok speeds with maybe 2 devices. I was getting 70mbps with this and it’s not fast. My starlink router is much faster topping out at 300mbpd but there are less options to customize the network. Also this router has many bugs in the customization part. Not worth it if your into heavy gaming or other. Rather spend more on a high end router. It’s not a bad router but it’s not advanced or have high end components to have high speeds.

Hi,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Rest assured that this is not the expected behavior of the Linksys Hydra Pro 6E. As long as it is equipped with its latest firmware and the connection from where it is connected to is stable - it can cover up to 2700 sq ft, can accommodate 55+ devices, and speeds up to 6.6 Gbps good for gaming/live streams. Moreover, our 2nd Level Team wants to understand your current setup and setbacks. You may email us at [email protected] with your contact details and the link to your review for reference.

Mara

Only downside in my opinion is the management interface does not seem to be too robust. Also a heavy push to use a mobile app to manage. Other than that it works well and I get great speeds.

I upgraded from a WiFi 6 router to this 6E router and it was a simple transition. The app was simpler to use and I could track all of my connected devices and which WiFi band they were connected through. In all of my previous routers I wouldn’t use the automatic band feature because devices would remain connected via the 2.4 ghz band even when right next to the router and 5 ghz was available. This router transitions when it should and. Speeds on my desktop PC over WiFi were well over 400 mbps, even though they were on separate floors. Great for gaming, not disappointed at all.

Got this item on sale not worth full price but happy at price point I purchased. I still need to use older router to get signal in all areas of my ranch style home.

This is the first time my hardware has been limited not by my router but by the Cat5e cable running through my house. The 6Ghz band maxed out at 1.2Gbs until I upgraded the cable going from my modem to the router with Cat8, the Wifi speed now maxes out at my internet provider's limit of 2.6Gbs and I have every reason to believe that Wifi speed would increase with an increase in modem speed. The only reason that this does not receive a perfect 5 stars is because of the lack of mesh bridges capable of Wifi 6E. This limits you to the, while not small, limited area of the router signal.

I’m use to netgear so navigating their software took a while. Have it set up for work with 3velops and it covers about 3000 square feet.

I had a LINKSYS router for about 8 year and since they were not supporting it anymore, I got the NEW one. Easy to install

set up was a bit of a pain. said it can use old network name and settings but would hang up and not finish the configuration process. Once i decided to create a new network(used the same network name i had) everything went smoothly. App works fine, router works great.

Linksys products are good. I've been a customer for over 15 yrs. This new product works well. I had the MR9600 before this, which was great. I switch because of the tri-band. The big question for me is why the 6G band isn't available. I believe it's because my devices don't support 6G as of yet.

Works well if your hardwire, but the wifi has intermittent connection issues. Once I do a restart it wirks fine again. Find my self having to do a restart every couple weeks unfortunately.

This system was very easy to install as a replacement to my older nighthawk router and effortlessly worked with my eero mesh exstenders

Pros: - Simple to configure because there's hardly any options - Has some good options for meshing AP's together - Stability seemed great with wifi ranges that exceed expectations - Wifi 6 bandwidth is great. 861 down / 25.3 up from my phone Cons: - Simple to configure, because there's literally no options. To dig farther into this, I can't even set the router to use a DNS server that I denote (Pi-hole for network wide advertisement blocking). - Your router administration login page will forever tell you to use the app and there's no way to change it. Even if you set 'wireless router configuration' to disabled... - I live in an apartment and like to change the wireless frequencies to churn through polluted airwaves but I can't do that. I have some older 2.4GHz wireless cameras that would greatly benefit from this... TL;DR: If you want something pretty much plug and forget with the latest tech, this is fine. If you want something even remotely configurable or customizable to your situation, pass this one for sure. You're spending the money for Wifi6 speeds but that's about it.

A good setup with a good backbone will allow this router to shine. Able to add more mesh devices if you want to expand.
