Q: Does this product create a 2nd internet connection?
A: NO--it only extends your current wifi connection to cover more area--in other words if you're having trouble getting the signal in an area of your home that is far away from your router, then you would put this extender halfway between the the router and the area where you need to increase the signal strength, and it will just help the signal to reach that area with better signal strength so that you can use the wifi in that area of your home.
A: To get the manual for the router google it and or go to the manufacturer's website with the model number and the serial number. YOu can't recover any information from the old router unless you know the user name and password. The only choice you have is to reset the device to factory settings and start over reconfiguring it as an extender.
