About this product
Charly Records are proud to announce the first ever long-play of New Orleans' best kept secret Little Buck. With only two singles to his name on the Seven B tag and a couple more on Instant with Huey 'Piano' Smith, this album can only exist thanks to a deep dive into Charly's vast haul of Joe Banashak master tapes. The record in your hand not only includes Buck's super rare funk 45 'Little Boy Blue,' (now in glorious stereo) but six unreleased tracks. There are two instrumentals that were clearly set up to have vocals added, and whilst this didn't happen 'Untitled 1' is a great slice of funk in it's own right and 'Untitled 2' gives us a glimpse into what Huey Smith sounded like on electric piano. The two ballads 'Starting With Today' and 'If I Could Do It Over' are showcases for that great voice. Of the two remaining tracks 'Soul Brother, Soul Sister' sounds like it could have been a Huey's single, whilst 'I'm Your Little Chicken' is nothing less than an unreleased funk classic.

Long before the silver sparkle Telecasters and Hee-Haw, Buck Owens was trodding the boards of Bakersfield bar stages, paying his dues and winning fans one twang at a time. Released on January 30, 1961, Owens' self-titled debut LP marked the start of his long, unprecedented career as a recording artist for Capitol Records. Bolstered by four charting singles- InchSecond Fiddle, Inch InchUnder Your Spell Again, Inch InchAbove and BeyondInch and InchExcuse Me (I Think I've Got a Heartache)Inch- the album spotlights the hard-edged honky tonk sound that Buck had honed in the clubs. Featuring Buck on electric guitar, Ralph Mooney on steel guitar, studio fiddler Jelly Sanders and future Buckaroo Don Rich, also on fiddle, Buck Owens is a startlingly mature debut album. 60th anniversary edition colored vinyl LP reissue cut all analog by Kevin Gray and pressed at Third Man Pressing!
