Stop before you but this phone is unlocked but do not try to use it with another carrier. It will take buy Greatcall has an error 5 that comes up. Greatcall will not help you unless you buy their service. I have been trying to get my Moms phone working for weeks. Nobody tells you alot of the problems you have to overcome with another carrier and no warnings on product. This is the only time I've ever been disappointed with Best Buy.

just went from my trusty samsung flip phone with SPrint to Great call JItterbug Smart 2 phone. Phone is nice size - easy to read - easy to use so far. Camera is good. It needs to be charged everyday though which i find annoying. Also - when i get a text if i'm not right on top of the phone I don't hear that a text came in and I have the volume all the way up. Customer service at Best BUy was exemplary. Customer service at Great Call is very good but you have to wait a minimum of 15 minutes on the phone to speak with someone. I'm used to SPrint - and waiting not even a minute. SInce this is my first smartphone I feel for what I paid it is a good deal and i'm able to operate it. WOuld recommend for those who are nervous about smartphones as I am and who need someone easy and simple.

I've had the phone for about a month now. I had their previous smart phone so the learning curve wasn't bad. If you don't go online or don't want to go online much, it's a decent phone. Or if you have WiFi, going online should be fine. I've gotten decent reception in all the places I've gone so far. Haven't been to western Nebraska yet, so we'll see how that goes over Thanksgiving. My previous phone worked there so I'm guessing this one will as well. Pros: not too hard for me to figure out and I can be technologically challenged at times. The price is reasonable which was a big reason to buy this phone. I like to use one app for work and it's works fine. Caveat to follow. I've also checked out my emails and a couple of other things and all work. Cons: This phone eats data like crazy if you don't have WiFi which we don't. It has 6 apps that run continuously and eat data for no reason that I can figure out. I hunted around and figured out how to turn the data OFF, so now I only turn it on to go online briefly or to retrieve pictures that have been texted to me. It's also a pain to try to get the pictures off the phone and into my computer without emailing them to myself. I'm still working on that. The camera isn't the best, but I use a point and shoot or DSLR most of the time, so that's not a problem. I'd buy this phone again. In an emergency I can go online. I can call and text without issues, and those are the main reasons I bought the phone anyway. It has a nice big screen which is helpful.

We purchased this phone for my 74 year old mom a week ago. She struggles with touch screen technology and had been using a flip phone for years. The Jitterbug’s user friendly home screen is the perfect transition for gaining confidence in more modern technology. She enjoys the large, easy to read/understand icons and the clear pathways to follow in order to do simple tasks. The only issue we have so far is that the battery life seems questionable. We were told that the initial download of content tends to drain the battery, so we are hopeful that it won’t be an ongoing issue. The company does, however, send a car charger after purchasing the phone (free of charge) so at least we feel confident that she will be safe when out and about. We are hopeful that this phone will finally allow my mom to overcome her fear of technology.

After much research, I decided to get this phone for my 92-yr-old, hearing-impaired dad -- he wanted "a phone like [mine], not an "old-fashioned" one -- to replace his flip-phone. The simplified home screen option on the Jitterbug is large and easy for him to read, but he's having a little difficulty mastering the steps to make calls. The sound quality is good, but not not the volume -- he can't hear the callers unless he puts them on the speaker (we set his to max volume). He's determined to figure it out, so time will tell. All things considered, it's a good phone for someone who wants a smartphone that's simple to use but can be modified for more advanced users (you can switch from the "senior setting" to android easily). Unfortunately, as others have noted, it may not be a good fit for seniors with with severe hearing loss despite the use of hearing aids.

Picked this up for my 83yo mom who lives alone and had a prepaid flip phone for decades. Activation took a while, but the folks were very nice and helpful. She seems to be taking to it pretty well, but didn’t use her cell phone much anyway. Nice that we can text her now, and she can do voice-to-text, voice dialing, etc. It is very straightforward to use. Main strength, though, is the peace of mind from having the 5* service (for her and us). Battery life seems meh, but should be fine if she charges nightly. Uses Verizon network, so the worst reception she gets is inside her house. Nice that we can enable WiFi calling on this device to backup the cell service. Can’t do that on a flip!

Got this phone for my 97-year old Dad as he wanted to get a “fancy” phone that would let him take selfies. Quite an upgrade from his old flip phone. It’s been a slow learning process, but he can make and receive calls. It will just take time and a lot of patience. The phone is east to use although some of the steps could be simplified. Large graphics and a nice bright screen make it easy for someone with failing eyesight to use. Haven’t had the phone long enough to rate GreatCall’s service, but the phone was easy for me to activate and get set up.

I purchased this phone for my mom’s birthday. It was on sale for half price. It took about 2 hours to set up this phone. There were some technical issues and then I had to transfer the number from my moms old phone. There is also an issue with it holding a charge. You also have to purchase plans through Great Call. My mom wants me to return it, but it is past the return date. Otherwise, I actually like the screen and the simple functions.

After my father had his $1,000.00 iPhone stolen, there was no way I was buying him another. This did the trick. Big fonts and similar ways to navigate. Much easier than trying to learn a new Samsung, Microsoft or Google phone OS. It's about double the showing price when all is said and done (services, initiation fee, etc.). Get a case for it too!

You can remove unnecessary tabs to remove confusion so you are only using the items that you are subscribed to. Nice feel in the hand...not too large for seniors. Not too heavy either.

Phone is as advertised. Larger text and buttons so easier to see and operate. Has two features. Basic for those who do not need the advanced features or do not know how to use them. Then it has an advanced setup with nearly all the full features of any android phone. Recommend when activating the phone, just call the number you'll have to anyway. The Jitterbug company answered right away. The setup was seamless. My mother's old Jitterbug information was transferred right over to this new phone. New phone has a lot more memory and a much better camera. Most importantly my Mother loves it.

Traded in my tried and true Jitterbug flip phone for the Smart Phone. Fairly easy to use but takes some getting used to for some components. Needs daily charging which flip phone did not need. Thankful I can contact Jitterbug for help in learning how to navigate new technology.

I purchased this for my 87 year old mother. Because it came with a booklet it made it easy for her to look up how to use her new phone. It gave me peace of mind because it has 5star features. She definitely appreciated this as her Mother’s Day gift.

It was fast very quick. could not answer my questions. Told me to call the number inside and they would take care of me... not even a smile. That was sales, now for the phone, I like it very much. New to electronics but the phone is teaching me a lot. I'm 74 yrs old and I have had a stroke in recent years. This was a good purchase for me.

We are seniors, not very technologically informed and as hoped, this phone is easy to use. This is the first 'smart' phone for both my husband and I. Because I am hard of hearing, I wish the volume was a little louder. Also, the 'Call 5' Red button is very easily hit by mistake. In general though we are very happy with the phones and would recommend it for anyone as a first smart phone.

I had a smart phone with Great Call before, but changed to the flip phone. Now I am back to the Smart 2 and liking the upgrades that have been made to it. I am still getting used to the differences, but I see alot of advantages for me. I have a new Fitbit charge 3 and when I can get them talking to each other, it will be perfect. The Coronaviris has kept me from going back to Best Buy for help. I hope it will not take tooooo long. Love it otherwise.

I purchased this phone for my elderly Mom, she was so excited to get a smart phone. The phone is good except the volume does not go high enough, This is made for the elderly, When all sound is set at the highest setting and the volume button is set all the way up and the speaker is on, At best it may be at medium volume on any other phone. I contacted Great Call they customer service was wonderful they sent me a new phone but it is no better. I was told this is as loud as it gets after receiving the second phone. I was told I could purchase a head set for my Mom. This is definitely a defect and should be corrected, easy to use for the most part Mom is getting use to it. My I-phone volume goes at least twice as loud as this phone.

The main topics on the opening screen are great. It is harder to find the buried icons that are located on pages further back. My mom enjoys being able to talk to type since she is not great at finger dexterity. I do wish it was easier to transfer numbers and contacts between companies.

Purchased for my 94 year old Mother-in-Law; previously had the Jitterbug Flip Phone. She loves the easy access to all the different parts such as contacts, voice mail, text messages; however her favorite is taking beautiful photos and the great view-ability of them. We have her set up on Wi-Fi so her bill remains manageable. She has had the phone about a week and is extremely happy with it. Great volume control, we highly recommend this phone to Seniors or really anyone.
