Limited colored vinyl LP pressing. On their eagerly awaited debut album Samsara, the visionary Austin, TX combo Los Coast delivers a fresh blast of punchy psychedelic-pop-soul that effortlessly incorporates a wide range of genres. The band's seamlessly soulful songcraft incorporates the band's distinctive grooves along with the inventive compositions and commanding vocals of principal members Trey Privott (lead vocals, guitar) and John Courtney (guitar, keyboards, vocals). Even before Samsara had been recorded, Los Coast had already earned a reputation as one of America's most exciting and inventive young bands. With it's lineup rounded out by Megan Hartman on bass, Damien Llanes on drums and Natalie Wright on keys, plus a varied assortment of guest players, Los Coast was already renowned for it's rousing, expansive live sets. That same mix of energy and expertise is reflected on Samsara, which features such memorable, no-nonsense tunes as InchSimplify,Inch InchMonsters,Inch InchGravesInch and the frantic, tongue-twisting Inch(Everything But) The Kitchen Sink.Inch The album delivers infectious hooks, ironic lyrical twists and explosive funk grooves in equal measure, providing an irresistible frame for Privott's soulful vocals and the band's explosive grooves. One part War, two parts Santana, and a dash of Motown, immersed in a rich Puerto Rican stock, Los Nombres were the undisputed kings of Northern Ohio's Rust Belt barrios. Following successive explosions of brown-eyed and Latin soul in Los Angeles and New York during the mid and late '60s, Lorain's Boricua underdogs went on a trial-by-fire recording tear in nearby Cleveland, going all-in on a series of no-budget recordings at Way Out and with Lou Ragland at Boddie Recording Company. Boasting a voice that rivaled any on the Fania roster, Willie Marquez led the rotating cast of Latino teens through numerous underfunded recording sessions for the Day-Wood, Beth, and Lorain Sounds imprints, the lo-fi fruits of which are compiled here. Reaching back to Los Nombres' most glorious and fearless era, these moments of off-the-cuff clarity feature an uncompromising assemblage of searing brass, molten organ, and crystalline nuggets of chili-powdered songwriting that could only have come from Ohio's InchInternational City.Inch Album Tracks 1. Vinyl LP pressing. Los Retros, aka Mauri Tapia, from Oxnard CA. He has been making music since his early teens, playing every instrument on his recordings and has grown a loyal fanbase via YouTube, Soundcloud as well as local shows up and down the SoCal coast. Tracing his musical inspirations to both American and Latin American left-field pop and soft rock groups from the 70s/80s, 'Los Retros' is actually an homage to Chilean pop band Los Ángeles Negros.
