About this product

What does it mean to be a traveler in a fixed place? An adventurer in domestic space? A troubadour in a confined microcosm, or a constellation of microcosms-that is, a microcosmos? These are the questions Nashville musician, songwriter, and published poet Lou Turner (aka Lauren Turner, Styrofoam Winos) was reflecting on as she wrote her luminous third solo album, Microcosmos. She says of the cosmic country record, InchMusically, these songs are mostly in the country/folk vein of the 70s songwriter but lyrically they're challenging some of those tropes or totally subverting them altogether, talking about commitment and love-the small microcosmic things that make up the fabric of everything.Inch With her warm and welcoming voice and nylon-stringed acoustic guitar foregrounded over sparse yet playful arrangements, Microcosmos is a meditation on what it means to privilege cultivation over consumption and to ponder larger realities from within the shell of the fixed reality of a home. The reward is the adventure to be found in stillness and observation, the discovery of the otherworldly in earthly matter, the revelations of groundedness. Turner generously offers up these wonders to the listener, sharing hers, and inviting us to find our own.MicrocosmosLook Out BelowGreen and GrowingEmpty Tame and UglyDancing to Hold MusicWhat Might We Find ThereI've Got the O'sYou Got Under My SkinBig Ole HeadSmallest MercyHot Soup, Cold Bowl

Big Richard - Pet - VINYL LP

Bluegrass band Big Richard makes music for the 21st century's twisted cultural unease. Their Signature Sounds debut Pet, is a fierce, provocative, rejoinder to what troubles them and the world right now, and was recorded live to tape in order to capture the fervor of their live shows.InchBig Richard is so much about our energetic delivery, and so I think it's been really important for us as a group to figure out how to do that for a record,Inch says mandolin and guitar player Bonnie Sims. And figure it out they did. Pet delivers, successfully translating the supergroup's live kinetic harmonies and string virtuosity. Unapologetically outrageous and provocative, the band's name is a wink to the 'big dick' energy Big Richard is reclaiming from male bluegrass bands. Since exploding onto the Colorado scene in 2021, the four women have been on a wild ride, slapping as hard as possible on the festival circuit, working up their stamina on nationwide headlining tours, and leaving a wake of die-hard Big Richard Heads across the country swooning for their honest songwriting, chilling vocals, and fiddle-driven barn-burners.InchOur live performances are so raw and so gritty, and I think that our sound never really flourished in that digital landscape.Inch GRAMMY and Emmy Award-winning cellist Joy Adams says. Inch[Recording live to tape] we were all in the same room together, very close together, with a lot of mic bleed, etc. And the energy was insane. It felt so good to record this way. Even on the first day, we were like 'wow, this sounds like our band.' And to do something that's very real and gritty and has little mistakes in it just feels alive and human.Inch Album Tracks 1. It's Gonna Fall - Old Daingerfield 2. The One I Love Is Gone 3. Millionaire 4. K's March 5. Pet 6. Alaska 7. Holy Holy 8. Circus Jerk 9. Red Fox Run 10. Make the World Go Away

Florist - Florist - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

2022 . Florist is the self-titled fourth full length record from upstate NY based indie folk band, Florist. Florist is the follow up to 2019's critically acclaimed Emily Alone, and is the strongest album of the band's decade-long career; an immersive work that conveys the magic of the earth and of family, and the whole of the band's heart. For all of June of 2019, amid a hot and rainy summer, Emily Sprague (guitar, synth, vocals), Jonnie Baker (guitar, synth, sampling, bass, saxophone, vocals), Rick Spataro (bass, piano, synth, vocals) and Felix Walworth (percussion, synth, guitar, vocals) convened in a rented house in the Hudson Valley, to live and work together. It was the first time the quartet recorded that way, and for that long. The result is 19 tracks that feel like the culmination of a decade-long journey, their fourth full-length album, but the first deserving of a self-titled designation. InchWe called it Florist because this is not just my songs with a backing band,Inch Sprague explains. InchIt's a practice. It's a collaboration. It's our one life. These are my best friends and the music is the way that it is because of that.Inch Album Tracks 1. June 9th Nighttime 2. Red Bird Pt. 2 (Morning) 3. Duet for Guitar and Rain 4. Spring in Hours 5. Bells Pt. 1 6. Two Ways 7. Variation 8. Organ's Drone 9. Duet for 2 Eyes 10. Reprise 11. 43 12. Bells Pt. 2 13. River's Bed 14. Sci-Fi Silence 15. Finally 16. Dandelion 17. Bell Pt. 3 18. Feathers 19. Jonnie on the Porch

Of Montreal - False Priest - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

2010 from the American Indie outfit led by Kevin Barnes. Teaming up with Grammy nominated producer Jon Brion (Kanye West, Fiona Apple), Barnes traveled to famed Ocean Way Recording (Michael Jackson, Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra) to record False Priest, his self professed masterpiece. As discussed in features in Rolling Stone, SPIN, Under the Radar and Pitchfork, False Priest is speaker, rattling heavy on the low end and features appearances by Janelle Monáe and Solange Knowles (Beyoncé's sister). The album also marks the return of organic instruments as live drums, strings and pianos eschew the midi sounds and sequencers of previous albums. Album Tracks 1. I Feel Ya' Strutter 2. Our Riotous Defects 3. Coquet Coquette 4. Godly Intersex 5. Enemy Gene 6. Hydra Fancies 7. Like a Tourist 8. S*x Karma 9. Girl Named Hello 10. Famine Affair 11. Casualty of You 12. Around the Way 13. You Do Mutilate?
