Lucinda Williams - West - VINYL LP
About this product
With West, a disc that may well be Lucinda Williams' most personal work to date, the singer/songwriter channels both her emotion and restive creative energy into a startling set of songs that touch on both darkness and redemption. At turns strikingly spare and compellingly muscular, the album's 13 cuts attest to her willingness to stretch as a musician - and to put herself on the line as a chronicler of life. This vinyl edition is pressed on 180 gram vinyl.

World Without Tears, Williams employed a live-on-the-floor production ethic that not only had the musicians playing together-a relative rarity on major tag rock recordings-but playing without the isolation/separation that producers use to keep the sound of each instrument from bleeding into the other musicians' microphones. The record therefore has less separation between instruments and much more InchroomInch sound than typical. It's the wettest acoustic I've heard on a rock record in quite a while. On CD, the result is not particularly pleasant. The natural reverberation places a murk over the sound, which is diffuse and distant.
2 LP/2 CD COMBO. Lost Highway brings you, BLESSED, the stunning new album from three-time Grammy Award winner Lucinda Williams. Considered by many to be one of America's greatest living songwriters, Williams lives up to that and more by delivering 12 new songs that cover an even wider emotional spectrum than her previous work, without moving too far in any one direction. It's nothing new to see Williams tug at the heartstrings and stimulate the mind with her songs, but there is a vibe throughout BLESSED that is unique to this album in particular. It's the sound of the wisdom and experience Williams has gained through her years as an uncompromising talent. BLESSED features special guests Rami Jaffe on keyboards, Matthew Sweet on vocals Greg Leisz and Elvis Costello on guitar.
