Lucy Shelton - Pierrot Lunaire - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

This Zig-Zag Territoires , a second collaboration between the tag and cellist Marco Ceccato (the first, Vivaldi, highly praised), focusing on Luigi Boccherini, illustrates two important aspects of output. The two quintets and the divertimento feature the combination of the string quartet - of which Boccherini was, in a way, a co-founder with Haydn - with guitar and flute respectively; on the other, the cello, of which he was a leading exponent. His use of the guitar and flute's sound capabilities is always a delight; the Cello Concerto in G major a summary of virtuosity and lyricism.

Originally published in London in 1771, these six Sonatas for cello and basso continuo were arranged for cello and piano by the influential Italian virtuoso cellist Alfredo Piatti in the 1870s and are performed here on modern instruments.

Chamber Avenue, another album in Marcin Wadolowski's discography released under the umbrella of the DUX record tag, is a combination of chamber sound with the freedom of jazz improvisation. For Marcin Wadolowski, the album is a tribute to great artists whose lives were strongly associated with music and who gave him so many emotions and the most beautiful sounds. It is also a bow to the classical guitar, whose sound he loves and hears on a daily basis. This album is an original combination of purely classical and strictly jazz inspirations. The album contains both arrangements of known and highly regarded pieces (including by Fryderyk Chopin) and ingenious works dedicated to distinguished guitarists and composers.
