Lucy Spraggan - Choices - VINYL LP

Singer songwriter Lucy Spraggan this year signed to to both Cooking Vinyl Records and Publishing on a long-term global artist services deal. Her name is now synonymous to the melodic middle ground where pop and acoustic folk meet. The toe-tapping interpretations of classic sounds and the harmony-heavy ballads that rattle of rap dropped into sing-along folk-style numbers. For Spraggan, 2017 was a big year achieving a #12 album (her 3rd Top 20 and 4th Top 40 album in total) and selling over 22,000 concert ticket across her UK and European tours. She also performed incredible shows everywhere from Glastonbury, the Isle Of Wight Festival to a cave in the middle of rural Derbyshire (Peak Cavern in Castleton).2018 began with more landmarks as is she embarked on her first ever SXSW where she played five showcases including the British Embassy showcase at Latitude 30. Meanwhile Lucy has been writing and recording her fifth album in between performing at 15 UK summer festivals. In September 2018 Lucy headed back to the US and Canada for her biggest headline tour there before her headline UK tour in October 2018, followed by European tour dates in November. British musician Lucy Rose released a third album, No Words Left, back in 2019. It garnered the strongest critical acclaim of her career and culminated in a sell-out show at Londons Barbican theatre. It was a record that ruminated in a sort of hushed reverence, emotionally charged and deftly delivered. Roses new record This Aint The Way You Go Out is inspired by a trip to America with friend and rapper Logic, she later worked with renowned producer Kwes to finish the record. This Aint The Way You Go Out is an album constructed from the ashes of despair, nurturing the tiniest of green shoots and giving life to something that had looked otherwise spent. It's a new era for Lucy, and an era in it's purest, truest sense. An artist re-awakening herself to the power of music, and having a lot of fun in the process of it's discovery and delivery.

Lucy Gooch's music is a beautiful ethereal fog; like hearing a subliminal echo of Kate Bush on a fading tape loop, masked by an internal wall of sound that vibrates with the hum of everyday life. The 'Rain's Break' EP is her first for Fire, following the much-touted 'Rushing' EP. Inspired by the early technicolour films of Powell and Pressburger, Lucy uses synthesisers and vocal layering to concentrate elements of each film's score and narrative into songs which move through different moods of yearning and renewal. So, it is amidst 1940's austerity that these films were an escape, an over-rich backdrop of possibilities. A snatched piece of dialogue, the film's score, the crackle of uncertainty all succumbs to the layered ambience of Lucy's music as she traces moods of yearning and renewal on 'Rain's Break' EP. Originally from Norfolk, Lucy studied Fine Art and later moved to Bristol to join the emerging ambient scene there - gradually developing her writing and finally releasing her debut 'Rushing' EP in early 2020. Over the past year, she's dipped into a wealth of long gone celluloid as the basis for a filmic journey, a five song EP that relives formative movies in her unique take on ecclesiastical pop. This is music that takes you places, shifts focus, paints large canvases.
