About this product
Lump began in 2018, with a collaboration between Mike Lindsay - a Mercury Prize-winning producer and co-founder of band Tunng, and the GRAMMY-nominated singer-songwriter Laura Marling. InchThe last record was an experiment,Inch says Lindsay. InchAnd I thought we weren't ever going to do another Lump record.Inch As with the first album, Marling would arrive in the studio without having heard any of Lindsay's music, with the hope that it would bring the lyrics an immediacy and a spontaneity. Having begun studying for a Masters in psychoanalysis, she found she drew heavily on her course texts for this album's lyrics. There were other sources too half-memories, family stories, strange dreams; things she had read, or been told or imagined. Animal was a word Marling threw into a lyric simply to meet a rhythm. But it seemed to capture the mood of the record, and of the band as a whole. InchThere's a little bit of a theme of hedonism on the album, of desires running wild,Inch she says.InchThrough Lump we find our inner animal, and through that animal we travel into a parallel universe,Inch adds Lindsay.

Vinyl LP pressing. Lump was born of good timing and predestined compatibility. It began one night in mid-June 2016, when Mike Lindsay - founding member of Tunng and Throws, and a prolific, Mercury prize-winning producer - was introduced to Grammy-nominated, Brit award-winning singer-songwriter Laura Marling. On meeting, Lindsay and Marling discovered they had long been admirers of each other's work. Lindsay had been busy for some months composing an intricate, ambitious new sound cycle. His compositional style had evolved over the course of years of musical experimentation with Tunng, and during his time spent producing other people's records while living in Iceland. He had arrived at a remarkably visual, colorful sound - a heady blend of wonked-out guitars, Moog synths and pattering drums, set against droning, coiling clouds of flutes and voices.

For soul-reggae artist Natty, music isn't just pleasure, it is also a healing power. The London-raised singer-songwriter has been on a remarkable journey of creative and personal discovery in recent years, moving his partner and children to rural Jamaica to live off-grid and off the land, while delving deep into studies on music's mental and physiological properties. The result of this journeying is Natty's expansive, fourth album, The Divine Trinity. Across nine tracks he employs his trademark vocal power and uplifting melodies to explore everything from earthy funk grooves to guitar-strummed yearning, emphatic spoken word entreaties and spacious, dubbed-out reggae. Partnering with his longtime band The Rebelship once more, Natty also expands his reggae-influenced sound through the instrumental frequencies of South Asian tablas, Zimbabwean mbira and wooden flutes. InchThere's so much that I've never done before in this record,Inch he explains. InchWe have a song in 5/4, inspired by my time learning music in Zimbabwe, as well as sound bowls, the song of the crickets from the land we live on in Jamaica and hand drums from all over. It's ancient frequencies combined with classic songwriting, allowing people to tune into the power of music.Inch
