About this product

Witold Lutoslawski's few surviving apprentice works are suffused with the elegance of Ravel and the rich effusiveness of Szymanowski, and this is particularly true of the early Piano Sonata, heard here in Giorgio Koukl's new and corrected edition based on the original manuscript. Further premieres include the wistful 'A Kiss of Roxanne' and the technically complex 'Invention.' Including all of the folk-music tinted pedagogical miniatures, works for piano four hands and other occasional pieces, this is the most comprehensive edition of Lutoslawski's works for solo piano ever recorded. Virginia Rossetti began her piano studies with Massimiliano Ferrati, later attending the 'Antonio Buzzola' Conservatory in Adria where she graduated with honors. In May 2013 she obtained her Master of Performing Arts with distinction at the Hochschule fur Musik in Basle and in 2014 at the Royal Flemish Conservatoire of Brussels. Since 2011 she has been the pianist of the Lunaire Piano Trio. Giorgio Koukl is a pianist/harpsichordist and composer. He studied at the State Music School and Conservatory, and the Conservatories of Zurich and Milan. Album Tracks 1. Piano Sonata (Paul Sacher Foundation Manuscript / Ed. Koukl) (1934) 2. Bukoliki = 'Bucolics' (1952) 3. Trzy Utwory Dla Mlodiezy = Three Pieces for the Young (1953) 4. Pocalunek Roksany = a Kiss of Roxanne 5. Zimowy Walc = Winter Waltz 6. Melodie Ludowe = Folk Melodies (1945) 7. Dwie Etiudy = Two Études (1940-41) 8. Inwencja = Invention (Undated Paul Sacher Foundation Manuscript) 9. Inwencja = Invention (1968) 10. Zaslyszana Melodyjka = An Overheard Melody (For Piano 4 Hands) (1957) 11. Miniatura = Miniature (Original Version for Piano 4 Hands, Paul Sacher Foundation Manuscript)

Karlowicz / Banasik - Complete Works for Piano - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

DUX presents Piotr Banasik, an outstanding pianist who is fascinating in his interpretations, in this new album featuring the complete piano works of Mieczyslaw Karlowicz. The piano pieces featured here constitute a very interesting part of the Polish neo-romanticism movement. The album by Piotr Banasik distinctly reminds us that Karlowicz is an excellent composer, not only in his works for strings, but also in the field of piano music. Piotr Banasik is a musician who willingly and often propagates the work of Polish composers. When in 2005 he took part in the 15th International Chopin Piano Competition, many commentators were surprised that despite his great performances, he was not qualified for the final interrogations. His balanced, supported by refined technique interpretations (incl. The Etude in G-flat major, Op. 10 No. 5 and Bolero, Op. 19) turned out to be one of the most outstanding in the first stage of the event's edition. Album Tracks 1. Louisa Wals 2. Faglarnas Morgonlov 3. En Sommardag 4. Till Vagen 5. Vanskapen 6. Hjartats Hem 7. La Priere 8. In Schaukeldner Gondel 9. Hemkomsten 10. Galopp 11. Novemberkallen 12.
