Lylas - Warm Harm - VINYL LP

Hamartia is the fatal flaw leading to the downfall of a tragic hero or heroine. A narrative tool often determining a character's arc (or fate) underpinning many of our favorite stories in film, literature, and music. Meredith Johnston, the singer-songwriter-producer at the heart of indie project Warm Human, borrowed the term for the title of her latest LP, and her first for Sooper Records. Hamartia finds Johnston probing the depths of own fatal flaw, self hatred, without skimping on the catchy hooks and bracingly frank lyricism. InchThis whole album is pop music for deranged peopleInch she says.Johnston wrote and produced the album with Chicago composer and producer Conor Mackey (Lynyn, Monobody, NNAMDÏ). Together, the pair crafted an album that draws liberally from it's diverse influences, incorporating down-tempo electronics, drum n' bass, indie rock, synth pop, and elegant, unstructured soundscapes. Hamartia finds humanity in electronic music, with warm synths, guitars, and shape-shifting vocal stacks frequently creating a one-woman choir.Hamartia is buoyed by the best music of Warm Human's career, from the probing InchFather FatherInch to the insightful InchMy Moods!!Inch and the musical dish session InchLove 2 Hate.Inch Inspired by Portishead, Sheryl Crow, Frou Frou and others, the LP can be both wryly funny and incisive in the span of a single couplet (InchI asked for space and you gave me the moon,Inch she sings on InchMy Moods!!Inch adding, InchI'm riding shotgun with my S**t attitudeInch). Hamartia is a perfect pop soundtrack for our current moment because it's irresistible hooks and quotable lyrics are the opposite of empty escapism-they're an invitation to acknowledge your own struggles and flaws. To get in touch with your hamartia. Album Tracks 1. Mercy Me 2. Father Father 3. Love 2 Hate 4. Wait 5. Hamartia 6. My Moods!! 7. Holding the Fl

Sweet Harm are a four piece punk band from the Hudson Valley, NY that treads the intersection of beauty and grit, anchored by love and fuzz. Their new LP InchCertain SunInch is a fever of moods songs unfolding with a grounded force, equal parts scrappy and shimmering. Jagged guitars converging with bittersweet vocal interplay from Dominic Armao and Kate Larson are anchored by the propulsive rhythm section of Mike Campbell and LIV Battell. Their songs grasp at connection from all angles, weaving a sturdy urgency that feels both bruised and vivid. The members have been playing music in circles around each other for most of their adult lives, catching back up in 2023 and building a new focus together, finally feeling at home with each other. Vinyl LP pressing. Pylar, the best kept secret of the Spanish underground, is a collective formed in Seville (Spain) by members of Orthodox and Blooming Látigo. With an imaginary that feeds on occult sciences, the sacred (with special attention to the pagan theme) or hyperstition, Pylar navigates in the depths of mysticism and cosmic horror evoking interdimensional and abyssal sound scenarios. An instrumental training that incorporates from percussion, to guitars, keyboards, horn, violin or mandolin, to which is added the voice that intones texts by the experimental writer and philosopher Francisco Jota-Pérez, fragments extracted from occult sciences and the cult vanguard grimoire Cyclonopedia. Pylar moves between the experimental doom metal, black metal or the psychedelia, so they created a music of dense texture by superimposing elements in the style of Blut Aus Nord, Swans or Oranssi Pazuzu.
