Magnolia - DVD [Standard]

Michael Sheen and Frank Langella reprise their roles from the award-winning play by Peter Morgan, who adapted his own work for this gripping drama directed by Ron Howard. Granting his first post-presidency interview to British talk show host David Frost (Sheen) in 1977, the disgraced Richard Nixon (Langella) anticipates outwitting his interrogator, while Frost makes plans of his own to extract revelatory answers from the mercurial and manipulative Nixon. With Sam Rockwell, Kevin Bacon, Oliver Platt. 123 min. Widescreen (Enhanced); Soundtracks English Dolby Digital 5.1, French Dolby Digital 5.1, Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1; Subtitles English (SDH), French, Spanish; audio commentary by Howard; featurettes; interviews.

Several years after their son became one of the casualties in an Idaho school shooting, Gail (Martha Plimpton) and Jay (Jason Isaacs) pursued the only way forward that they could see-a church-brokered sit-down with Linda (Ann Dowd) and Richard (Reed Birney), the now-divorced parents of the shooter who'd taken his own life. Anger, recriminations and, perhaps, understanding memorably follow in this absorbing four-hander from writer-director Fran Kranz. 110 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack English.
