About this product
On Oni Pond, the 2013 album from Philadelphia legends Man Man, features an arresting reconstruction of the band's visionary sound stripped to it's core and rebuilt as something new and compelling yet still very much Man Man. An intensive collaboration between the band's frontman, Honus Honus, and drummer Pow Pow, who has assumed a new-found prominence in the songwriting process, on Oni Pond brings an exhilarating array of new rhythmic ideas to the mix. The compositions were further honed by the band members along with producer Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes, First Aid Kit) into a compelling mash-up of Fear of Music era Talking Heads, Classic Soul, Psychedelia, Hip-Hop, and 50's Rock and Roll. With it's imaginative yet spare rhythms, huge hooks, and overriding sense of urgency, on Oni Pond melds these seemingly disparate influences into an unexpectedly rich, melodic album, exquisitely consolidated by the band's unique and affecting vision.

Man on Man (also M.O.M.) is a new gay lover band made up of Joey Holman (HOLMAN) and Roddy Bottum (Faith No More, Imperial Teen, CRICKETS, Nastie Band). Their upcoming self-titled record, Man on Man, is infused with indie-rock distortion and soaked in gay pop confidence while still maintaining the dry acerbic sense of humor they both share.Man on Man's music transcends both genre or decade, creating a timeless appeal for so many kinds of listening. The varied influences and textures of the record are a meditation on the myriad of emotions of lockdown, as well as this particular moment in their own lives, collectively and independently. The shoegaze whirlpools of InchStohnerInch transition into the square wave synths of Inch1983Inch with ease, while tracks like InchIt's So Fun (To Be Gay)Inch open us up to a new type of queer anthem for the 2020s.

LIFE FANTASTIC is the much anticipated follow up album to RABBIT HABITS (2008), an album which inspired Paste magazine to proclaim of the band - InchThey are what rock n roll is meant to be and, frankly, what most rock bands have forgotten altogether these songs are fun.Inch Expanding their palette while keeping the found instruments (typewriter bell, anyone?), Man Man continue to evolve into an entirely new form of propulsive pop music.

Philadelphia's Man Man have found the perfect berth for their Gypsy, Swamp, Rock, Carny, Soul, Viking, Vaudeville, Punk collective. This record matches the fierce energy of their non-stop live shows, which utilize a variety of more traditional instruments (accordion, Moog, Xylophone) along with such noisemakers as soup pots, shoes, squeaky toys and a fire extinguisher. With a following that sells out clubs coast to coast and with a kinetic stage presence, Man Man are a musical contagion waiting to happen. They've toured with Cat Power, Arcade Fire and Modest Mouse.
