About this product

German pianist Martin Helmchen continues his journey through Beethoven's piano concertos with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester and Andrew Manze. In the Third Concerto, published in 1804, Beethoven seems to be moving away from the Mozartian model and inaugurates his 'middle period,' using the minor mode to depict a distress and heartache that are certainly not unconnected with the famous 'Heiligenstadt Testament,' which he wrote in 1802 to record his growing deafness. Martin Helmchem is joined by two partners with whom he performs a great deal of chamber music- violinist Antje Weithaas and cellist Marie-Elisabeth Hecker- to record the Triple Concerto, also written during the composer's so-called 'heroic' period.

Roberto Fabbriciani - Grego: Heliossea XX - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Heliossea is an intermedia work for flutes and live electronics composed by Alessandro Grego in 2003 and premiered in Trieste on June 21 - the summer solstice - of the same year. It is a meditation on the rising of the sun, starting from the first ray of light at dawn breaking over the horizon. Astronomical data about the phenomenon, translated into sound using Grego's custom-designed software, plays a crucial role in shaping the music. In 2023, to mark the 20th anniversary of Heliossea's premiere, Alessandro Grego created a new version titled Heliossea XX. This updated rendition was performed for the first time on September 3, 2023, at the Miramare Castle Park in Trieste. The work is conceived as a tribute to Margherita Hack and her contributions to science and Italian culture. The new version of Heliossea, produced by the Prodigys Group, was realized in collaboration with inaf-oats, which oversaw the scientific aspects of the project, and the InchStudio di Sonologia ComputazionaleInch in Padua, under the direction of Alvise Vidolin, which managed the surround sound diffusion. Astronomical data provided by the National Institute for Astrophysics (thanks to it's director Fabrizio Fiore and Massimo Ramella) enhanced the work's precision and immersive quality.

Horvath Sinfonieorchester Basel Drewanz - Piano Concerto 1 - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

With his birthplace of Budapest, Benedek Horváth (*1989) feels very close to his 'fellow countryman', the great virtuoso and cosmopolitan Franz Liszt. Important stages of his career are inseparably linked with this name and the interpretation of the visionary's piano works has kept him busy since his early years of study. Horváth completed his soloist diploma at the Basel Music Academy and received important artistic impulses from András Schiff, Dimitri Bashkirov and Menahem Pressler. He was a finalist at renowned competitions such as the Concours Clara Haskil in Vevey. In 2018 he was awarded the 'Junior Prima', one of the most important cultural prizes in Hungary.
