- Description: Marco Beltrami - "Scream (Original Motion Picture Soundtracks)" [6 CD Boxset] Scream was perfectly pitched when it came out in 1996. Written by Kevin Williamson and directed by Wes Craven, it was a self-aware send-up of the slasher genre as well as a perfectly executed example of it. It revitalized the horror genre and led to sequels with Scream 2 (1997), Scream 3 (2000) and Scream 4 (2011). A breakthrough score for Marco Beltrami, whose avant-garde, cinematic instincts created a style perfectly suited for the franchise. The score is eerie one moment, haunting the next, then lurches into pulse-pounding action. It is timeless and sophisticated, befitting modern concert music. Beltrami returned for the Scream sequels, all of which had their scores released by Varèse Sarabande. This 6 CD boxset features deluxe, expanded editions of all four scores, plus a bonus disc of previously unreleased alternates, outtakes and demos.
