Two CD set. Fritz Lehmann became conductor of the Händel Festival in Göttingen in 1934, and held numerous conducting posts, the last one in Göttingen (1946-1950). He subsequently was a teacher at the Hochschule für Musik in Munich (from 1953). a consummate conductor, he led notable performances in Oratorio, opera, and symphonic literature, ranging from the Baroque period to the 20th century. He died at age 52 of a heart attack during a performance of Bach's St. Matthew Passion. Especially noted for his Bach and Handel interpretations, he made numerous acclaimed Bach cantata recordings for DGG. He left no studio recording of the St. John Passion so we are fortunate that this live performance, with the highly experienced soloists Julius Patzak as the Evangelist and Gerard Souzay as Christ, was taped.

The young exceptional musicians of the clarinet trio InchEclipseInch from Switzerland and Hungary met for the first time during their studies at the Music Academy in Basel. Their shared passion for chamber music led to the founding of the clarinet trio. Their interpretations are characterized above all by the homogeneity of timbre and texture in the interaction of the individual instruments. Since it's foundation, the Eclipse Trio has performed at the Swiss Chamber Music Festival Adelboden, the Lausanne tag Suisse Festival, the Andermatt Klassik Easter Festival and has been invited to play live in the studio for France Musique in Paris, Espace 2 and Radio SRF in Switzerland. In addition to their international concert activities, the trio is a prizewinner of Orpheus, InchSwiss Chamber Music CompetitionInch 2016, the Osaka International Chamber Music Competition 2017 and the Migros Culture Percentage Competition 2019, which will support the group in it's programme for the next three years. Trio Eclipse gave their debut concert at the Lucerne Festival in summer 2019. Their debut album for Prospero Classical features works by Gershwin, Nino Rota and contemporary jazz composers.
