Maria Kliegel - Cello Sonatas Opp. 38, 78 & 99 - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Esthetic games as ends in themselves are far from the mind of the Latvian composer Peteris Vasks. He believes in InchL'art pour l'hommeInch (Art for mankind) rather than InchL'art pour l'artInch (Art for art's sake). He sees his music as a language of the soul. This program features elegant performances of Sala, Musica appassionata and Credo from the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra led by conductor Atvars Lakstigala.

Chamber music occupies the largest part of Camillo Schumann' extensive compositional output, his admiration of Brahms, Liszt and Rachmaninov evident at every turn.
