About this product

Venus; goddess of sensuality and great orchestrator of pleasures; pulls the strings of opera characters as if they were puppets in the land of Tendre. With great delectation; Marie Perbost invokes the goddess and the heroines of French opera from the century of Louis XV to embody all the victims of passions unleashed by Aphrodite. There are masterpieces and discoveries here; from the satirical mockery of Madness in Rameau's Platée to the virtuosic pages of Mondonville in Les Fêtes de Paphos. By turns pastoral and piquant; tender and burning; the divine Marie Perbost; supported by Gaétan Jarry; embraces all the music of love under Louis XV. A medley of jesting and fleeting romances; grace and libertinism; experience the delirium of the senses titillated by Eros and Cupid! Album Tracks 1. Castor Et Pollux 2. Les Romans, 1736 - Première Entrée, la Bergerie, Scène 6 3. Ismène 4. Les Moissonneurs, 1763 - Acte III, Scène 7 5. Platée, 1745 - Acte III, Scène 4 6. Ismène, 1747 - Acte Unique, Scène 3 7. Olga Pashchenko - Mozart: Piano Concertos Nos. 20 & 23 - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Two years after her recording of Mozart's piano concertos KV 271 and KV 459, Olga Pashchenko returns to the Il Gardellino ensemble for the concertos KV 466 and KV 488. KV 466 is in D minor, a key that Mozart often uses to express the anger of his female characters in his operas. KV 488 was composed a year later in 1786 and is in the luminous key of A major, although without losing any of the theatrical dynamism of KV 466. They represent an almost dramatic, pre-Romantic theatricality for Nicolas Derny, who sees these concertos as the precursors of two of Mozart's greatest masterpieces the Requiem and Le nozze di Figaro. Olga Pashchenko here plays a replica of an Anton Walter fortepiano (ca. 1792) built by Paul McNulty. Album Tracks 1. Piano Concerto No. 20 in D Minor, KV 466~I. Allegro 2. Piano Concerto No. 20 in D Minor, KV 466~II. Romance 3. Piano Concerto No. 20 in D Minor, KV 466~III. Allegro assai 4. Piano Concerto No. 23 in A Major, KV 488~I. Allegro 5. Piano Concerto No. 23 in A Major, KV 488~II. Adagio 6. Piano Concerto No. 23 in A Major, KV 488~III. Allegro assai
