Jack Millman wasn't just another trumpet player. He was an artist who saw the world of jazz as a canvas too vast to be confined by the rules of the genre. By the time he was 18, Millman had already composed a symphony, which was as bold a move as it was unusual for a young jazz musician. His early work was shaped by classical sensibilities, which made his approach to jazz more intricate and structured than many of his contemporaries, yet it never sacrificed the feeling and rhythm that defined the best of the genre. On this album we discover how Millman reshaped the landscape of the West Coast jazz band by challenging it's boundaries, infusing his work with both modern and symphonic elements in ways that had rarely been attempted. Germany's youngest top orchestra is already releasing it's eighth album with GENUIN. This time around, the German String Philharmonic is presenting repertoire from late Romanticism up to the present day. The program includes works by Elgar and Suk, Mahler's famous Adagietto, and Bacewicz's Concertino for Strings. It also features a world premiere recording Shir-Ran Yinon's Vivid, full of gripping rhythms and bursting with energy! The joie de vivre that emanates from the young musicians is joined by the heart and soul with which they play - and thus their is called Alma! Not only the name of Gustav Mahler's wife, but also the Italian word for InchsoulInch or Inchspirit.Inch A more fitting title could hardly be imagined!
