I wasn’t really seriously looking at upgrading my soundbar until I saw the Heston 120. I had visited a local A/V installer who had the Sonos and Klipsch lines, but couldn’t justify spending the money on them. Once I saw the classic Marshall styling of their soundbar, I was hooked and had to give it a try! I’m so glad I did, this thing is awesome! I didn’t opt to get the sub yet, in my opinion it sounds great without it and has plenty of bass output on its own. My only regret is that I didn’t buy it earlier.

The Heston 120 is a 5.1.2-channel with Dolby Atmos that delivers immersive, room-filling audio experience without the need for additional speakers. It includes HDMI eARC, along with one extra HDMI input for a console or streaming device. It also features an RCA input, which is great for connecting a turntable or other older audio devices which is a plus. There’s also an Ethernet port for a stable internet connection. I use a similar soundbar with comparable connectivity, but it lacks key features like Ethernet and RCA inputs. I really appreciate Marshall including these, as they offer more options that might be necessary in some scenarios. The setup was straightforward. I downloaded the Marshall app on my iPhone and quickly followed the on-screen prompts to add, control, and customize the soundbar. I connected my TV via HDMI eARC and my turntable through RCA, and everything worked flawlessly. Overall, setup was a breeze and the soundbar looks classy. The soundbar supports Wi-Fi 6 for streaming through AirPlay, Chromecast, Spotify, and TIDAL, allowing music to be played without using a TV. It also includes Bluetooth 5.3, making it easy to stream music from smartphone, tablet, or laptop. Watching movies and listening to music on this soundbar was a great experience. The sound is clean and detailed, especially for vocals and dialogue. I was able to hear conversations easily due to the clarity. The spatial audio powered by Dolby Atmos created a true immersive experience enabled me to hear effects coming from all around me. Overall, the Marshall Heston 120 is an all-in-one audio solution for both TV and music. I liked its design that is classy, and the build quality is excellent. One drawback is the absence of a physical remote control. While most controls are available directly on the unit and through the Marshall app, having a dedicated remote control would have been a welcome addition. Other than that, this soundbar is worth owing.

I have spent over a week daily listening to the Marshall Heston 120 to confidently say it's one of the most character-rich and satisfying soundbars i've added to my Home Setup. It would get loud and not just “party loud,” but “fills the entire floor of your house” loud. And it does it without distortion. The new Marshall Heston 120 soundbar appears to transform a rock band’s stage speaker into a striking addition to an home theater speaker for those looking to incorporate some concert nostalgia into their TV watching experience. Right out of the box you immediately recognize how the soundbar blends Marshall’s iconic "salt and pepper" fret grille, faux-leather wrapped cabinet, and a massive brass logo into an all-in-one surround speaker. The Heston features weighted, knurled brass knobs on top for volume, bass, treble and source inputs and push button presets and sound modes that combine to feel like adjusting a vintage guitar amp. It is relatively large for a soundbar measuring approximately 43” wide and just under 6” deep so double check you have the space for it. After downloading the Marshall smart phone application, setup was self-explanatory requiring minimal reference to instructions and using the HDMI eARC connection connected to my compatible television. The app also calibrated the speaker in the area I had it setup in using rock inspired audio tones. I began testing the speaker by casting music from my phone. Even with the volume turned up close to 100%, which was extremely loud, the sound was clear with deep notes. Although the soundbar was designed as a soundbar for your television, it still holds its ground in the music department. I switched over to some live sports followed by an action movie and enjoyed an immersive experience with loud, clear sound surrounding me thanks to the technology built into the soundbar. The Heston 120 soundbar features the latest technology, including Dolby Atmos support, delivering an incredible audio experience producing loud, deep and crisp sound in all directions amplifying all the movies, music, and games you can throw at it. The built-in subwoofer adds a punchy low-end, ensuring you get room-filling bass without the need for extra, separate equipment. It uses 11 active drivers powered by dedicated Class D amplifiers, delivering a peak output of 150W. Two rear-facing 5-inch woofers and four passive radiators handle the low end down to a booming 40Hz. The soundbar offers a variety of connection options, including an HDMI eARC, second HDMI 2.1 supporting 4K passthrough, Bluetooth 5.3, USB-C output, rare “old-school” RCA inputs and Wi-Fi 6 for wireless streaming. It does NOT include a remote control however you can use the smart phone application or the remote you use with a compatible TV to adjust the volume. There is an option to add a separate subwoofer however I didn’t think that was needed considering how loud and deep the bass already was. The Marshall Heston 120 soundbar was clearly designed and developed with audiophiles, like myself, in mind who understand the premium price is a result of the premium build quality, new technology, and the convenience of a built-in subwoofer. It is a great option for those seeking both performance and vintage inspired style in their audio gear and would recommend it to anyone in the market at this price point.

Last year I got a nice new 85" TV so when given the opportunity to pair it with a Marshall sound bar, I jumped at the chance to test it. The sound-bar is roughly 4' long and if you're smart you'll get someone to help you pick it up as it's a little awkward (not overly heavy though). I've used Marshall products before and was extremely impressed with the sound quality for the size- this soundbar is no exception. Included in the box is an HDMI cable, power cable, quick-start document and full-blown manual. You'll need a cell phone with bluetooth capability to download the Marshall app which will pair with the soundbar and then download firmware updates. Once that is done it's time to test! Now, there is one thing that annoys me about this soundbar - my TV kicks in the screensaver after so many minutes of idle time . When this happens, I have to turn the TV off and back on again to get the soundbar to initialize again otherwise it's quiet time! There is one work-around, but it's a little counter-productive IMHO - leave the speakers built into the TV turned on, but to get the soundbar working again you'll still need to turn the TV off and back on (at least with the unit I have here). We opted to set it on a mount that is above the TV as the sound "rolls" off the ceiling and gives it more of a surround sound and room-filling audio. Overall extremely impressed with the soundbar - it's awesome for TV, movies, "casting" music via streaming services, and exceeds my expectations for this brand!
