Martin Hayes - Under the Moon - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Martin Hayes - Martin Hayes [COMPACT DISCS] date 10/05/1993

WELCOME HERE AGAIN is Hayes and Cahill's first new studio album in ten years. It was once common for Irish musicians to record one tune at a time, to make each one a self-contained masterpiece. Coleman did it. Morrison did it. Martin Hayes is not of their stature - not yet anyway- but together with Dennis Cahill he aspires to the same musical crucible which renders the essence of the tunes, revealed in their purest form, accessible and appealing to all. The mesmeric rhythms, the tantalizing slow of melody, the extra tone from viola or tuned-down fiddle, all of that and more is on this album. After almost ten years, Hayes and Cahill are indeed WELCOME HERE AGAIN.

Limited ten inch vinyl pressing. 2017 . Configuração Do Lamento is a sound riot, a trance-inducing cacophony, a body-shaking mix of percussive rhythms and bending guitars. The seventh album by São Paulo, Brazil's Deaf Kids is harmful for the weak-minded. An experimental mile marker on the band's journey, it is as treacherous on the ears as hypnotic to the mind. Expanding the band's D-beat origins, these eight tracks vacillate between demonic fever dreams, orgies of acidic guitars and percussive taunting. Sometimes songs are not songs anymore, but assaults which clatter and hum like rough metallic windchimes in gale force winds.
