Martin Petzold - Christmas at Home - Teaser - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

German pianist Martin Stadtfeld recorded a special Christmas album featuring well-known Christmas melodies such as InchStille NachtInch (Silent night), InchIn the bleak midwinterInch and InchMaria durch ein Dornwald gingInch and InchVom Himmel hochInch which are newly arranged by Martin Stadtfeld himself for InchChristmas PianoInch. In addition, Stadtfeld contributed to InchChristmas PianoInch his own pieces, especially the eleven-part contemplative piano cycle InchChristmas TimeInch, two variations after Praetorius' InchEs ist ein Ros' entsprungenInch and two intermezzi after Praetorius' InchVom Himmel hochInch. Already at the end of 2020, when no concerts could take place due to the pandemic, Stadtfeld had sent short musical Advent greetings to his audience via social media channels to cheer them up. The experience of this sharing and the positive response to his music gave him the idea for his new album. Right at the beginning, Stadtfeld's InchChristmas TimeInch sounds, consisting of 11 atmospheric miniatures. Titles like InchHappy TimeInch, InchWish ListInch or InchAnticipationInch conjure up images of joyful anticipation and shining children's eyes during Christmas times. Just as in his own piano cycle, Martin Stadtfeld let's listeners participate in his Christmas imagination in his arrangements of traditional carols and pieces by classical composers. InchChristmas PianoInch also includes InchCanonische Veränderungen über Vom Himmel hochInch (Canonical Changes on High Heaven) by Johann Sebastian Bach arranged for piano and trumpet, in which Martin Stadtfeld's brother Stephan also makes a guest appearance on the trumpet.

Double vinyl LP pressing. There are times in popular music where an unstoppable force truly meets an immovable object and a strange, unique, alchemy occurs. This is true of the union between The O'Jays (Eddie Levert, Walter Williams and William Powell) and producers and writers Gamble & Huff. The power of the moment in 1972 when the group broke through into the US and UK mainstream with a series of memorable hits still burns bright. During their years on Philadelphia International Records (PIR), they released some of the greatest and most successful soul standards of all time. 'Love Train', 'Put Your Hands Together', 'Now That We Found Love', 'Backstabbers', 'For the Love of Money', 'I Love Music'... there's a seemingly endless supply of hits in The O'Jays' PIR songbook, all here on this set of classics.
