Marvin Gaye - I Want You (remastered) - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Japanese only SHM-CD pressing. Universal. 2011.

180 Gram Vinyl Record LP. I Want You is a 1976 album by Marvin Gaye. The album was his first recorded studio material released in three years and marked a change in direction for Gaye, leaving his trademark Motown soul for funky, light-disco soul. Much of Gaye's music encompassed spirituality, sexuality, and vulnerability. With a career spanning over more than a decade, it's no wonder that many of today's artists continue to honor and emulate Gaye. Although no longer a physical presence, his existence as an artist is one that is sure to be a vital part of the millennium and beyond.

Digitally remastered and expanded edition. Blessed with a mellifluous tenor and a three-octave vocal range, Marvin Gaye was one of the most consistent and enigmatic of the Motown hitmakers, with a career that exemplified the maturation of soul and black pop into a sophisticated form spanning social and sexual politics. This quintessential collector's edition contains Gaye's long time unavailable and magnificent debut album for the Tamla tag, the Soulful Moods of Marvin Gaye (1961). in addition, we have included 3 bonus tracks consisting of hard to find sides from his early years joining R&B groups such as the Marquees and Harvey & the Moonglows. It serves as the best introduction for anyone wanting to explore his first steps. This is the material upon which Marvin Gaye's soul kingdom and unique personal style were built. Soul Jam Records.
