Masayoshi Fujita - Migratory - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Stories, the first in the series and Masayoshis debut under his own name, will be re-issued by Erased Tapes on July 27th.Stories saw Masayoshi bring this relatively new invention in the history of instruments often kept in the background in orchestras and jazz outfits into the spotlight. Having trained as a drummer, Masayoshi experimented with the vibraphone using the cello bow to play it, such as in Fog, or the other end of the mallet like on Book of Life the title track of his new album. Focusing on the vibraphone in this way sets Masayoshi apart, dedicating his artistic life to celebrating this fascinating and often under appreciated instrument and making his take on ambient and modern compositional styles a unique one.1. 2 x GRAMMY-nominated singer-songwriter Madi Diaz is known for searing explorations of romance and has created her most powerful statement. Raw and stripped down, Fatal Optimist is Madi at her most intimate and most bold. She and producer, Gabe Wax (Soccer Mommy, Zach Bryan), set out to strip these songs back, relying on her performance and her writing. The result is a classic and timeless indie-folk album. Fatal Optimist is the follow up to her 2023 critically acclaimed album Weird Faith and is set for on October 10th. InchMadi Diaz is simply stunning.Inch - Associated Press

May 28 will see prolific Japanese vibraphonist, multi- percussionist and composer Masayoshi Fujita mark a new sonic direction with his forthcoming album Bird Ambience on Erased Tapes.Arranged with a perfect Kanso-like balance, the unhurried pace of Bird Ambience allows each sound and phrase enough time to be mindfully absorbed and savoured. This subtle, but affective work carries ethereal remnants of Midori Takada's minimalism, the static atmospheres of Mika Vainio, To Rococo Rot's organics and the bucolic electronics of Minotaur Shock. Yet Fujita vaporises contemporary and classical, ambient and dismantled dub, controlled noise and fragments of jazz into an atmospheric, static mist, then skilfully coercing them into new musical forms that shape an entire sonic alphabet of it's own.1.
