Maserati - Pyramid Of The Sun - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Mercury Prize-nominated singer-songwriter Gemma Hayes has shared details of her long-awaited sixth album Blind Faith, set for on LP and CD. Having taken the time and space she needed to figure out what she wants to tell the world. Hayes has plenty to say, with Blind Faith diving into themes of longing, empowerment, freedom and repression. While Hayes's songwriting is as personal as ever, it's abstract nature allows the listener to sink into each song, immersed by tender guitar picking, eerie synths and swooning cello. It's made all the more remarkable given this is Hayes's first album in a decade.

Recorded throughout 2009 and 2010, PYRAMID OF THE SUN is the most dynamic, melodic and tuneful Maserati album of the band's decade-long career. Retaining the trademark driving momentum that makes the band's live shows so euphoric, PYRAMID explores the lighter and darker sides of their sound, anchored by more melodic and varied song structures and exhilarating production. In other words, you'll not only bob your head and tap your feet, you'll also involuntarily find the tunes lodged in your brain.

In anticipation of their long-awaited new album coming in 2010, Athens, GA's premier (or maybe only) psych-dance-rock-etc stalwarts collect their rare and out-of-print vinyl tracks from the past couple years onto CD for the first time. Featuring all four tracks from their blink-and-it's-gone limited-edition split LP with Zombi, as well as their remix LP (featuring The DFA's Tim Goldsworthy and !!!'s Justin Van Der Volgen), Passages is augmented with two previously unreleased tracks - the Moog-fueled meditative trance of Steve Moore's InchMonolithsInch remix, and the positively sublime emotional heft of InchDo You Hear The Nightbirds Calling?Inch, all remastered from the original master tapes and packaged with eye-popping new artwork. Also included on the Enhanced CD are two brilliant videos for InchInventions (Live)Inch and InchThis Is A Sight We Had One Day On The High Mountain.Inch
