About this product
Vinyl LP pressing. 2020 . InchWhen I was a kid, my dad's favorite record was Willie Nelson's Stardust. I have a really great dad, and that record has a tenderness and optimism that must have worked it's way into the fabric of my soul because every time I hear it, I feel safe and happy.I had been wanting to make a covers record like Stardust for a long time. Then in 2010, thanks to cosmic magic or god or whatever, Olivia Jones reached out to me to see if I'd be willing to duet with the incomparable Sharon Jones on a song Olivia had written with her dad, Booker T. Jones, the man who produced and arranged Stardust. A few weeks later, I started sending Booker songs that I wanted to cover. I also sent him a few rough demos of originals that I had started working on with some old friends, including the songs InchSerpentine PrisonInch and InchDistant AxisInch. Booker responded to those demos right away and encouraged me to keep writing and digging deeper into that stuff. Six months later we had twelve originals and seven covers. Everyone I had been working with on these songs came to Venice, CA, and we recorded it all in 14 days.

Finally! Vinylly! The Prison break of our dreams at long last. Freedom is the goal for Rockaway Beach's very own state of mind jam band. Everybody's got their point of view and one slamming riff at a time unites all of them five guys, four vocals, three guitars melded together outrageously in a craft that runs on it's own rock and roll synergy, and lots of it. Sure, it goes too far! How the hell else you gonna get Upstate?1. Hold the Building Up /The Prison Within2. Hold 'em Up / Comin' Down On Me3. Low Hangin' Disco Ball / So Alone4. I Always Get What I Want / Playin' Pool With the Planets5. Destroy / Cookin' With Heat
Yellow Marble Vinyl. Matt Pond's very name evokes the natural world in which his songs are so often set, with their evocative lyrics about the sometimes jagged edges of love, the pros and cons of connection, and the agony and ecstasy of memory. He has always mapped the universal emotions of being alive onto the contours of his own stories. From the band's beginnings in Philadelphia in the late '90s to their current home in the heart of the Hudson Valley, through 13 albums (among them Emblems, Several Arrows Later, The Dark Leaves, The State of Gold, and, most recently, the luminous The Natural Lines), matt pond PA has always been a living, breathing organism-one that's constantly changing. One notable mainstay Pond's longtime right-hand man, Chris Hansen.InchI named the band after myself, but the fact is that this is a complete collaboration,Inch Pond says. InchEveryone I've worked with lives in my head and in these songs.Inch
