About this product
This was my first encounter with the music of Amy Beach, an American pianist and composer of the early 1900s. I was thunderstruck by it. I asked fellow European and American musicians, pianists, conductors, soloists and musicologists who gravitate around my Theater (Teatro alla Scala, Milano) if they had any information on her, but to no avail. No one knew her. Some had heard her name, but no one had actually listened to her compositions. Today I can say that Amy Beach is almost unknown in America. I can also say that she is unknown in Europe, given the caliber of the musicians I talked to about her, and the fact that they hadn't heard of her. Starting with manuscripts requested from the University of New Hampshire, I began transcribing four pieces and a sonata, originally written for Violin and Cello and Piano, into a version for Viola and Piano. I discovered that, not only the music, but also the incredible life of Mrs. H. H. A. Beach (that is how she signed her compositions) is a beautiful novel that remained locked in a drawer all this time. In fact, I have every intention of reopening that drawer through this CD and through the musical edition that printed my transcriptions for Viola and Piano. I believe that the instrument of the Viola and it's alto key have given a new color to this music, enhancing it, but never altering it's true essence. Born with this CD is a project of popularization and knowledge of Amy Beach's compositions and life story, a story and music that are at once incredibly modern and of other times. Matteo Amadasi

Nicht Bach, sondern Meer sollte er heißen! (Ludwig van Beethoven) The InchMusical OfferingInch collection of pieces, dedicated to the Prussian King, Frederick II, is a contrapuntal masterpiece, in which Johann Sebastian Bach seems to draw every conceivable facet from a single theme (Thema Regium - royal theme). It is a musical testament of the old master, full of freshness, creativity and original quality - like an endless sea. With this recording, Ensemble Barockin' presents a musically careful and genuinely new interpretation. Ensemble Barockin' is an international ensemble with musicians from Russia, France, Germany and Japan who are committed to performing early music in the original sound. The album artwork was created by artist, photographer and graphic designer Marc Köschinger. The cover shows a long time-exposure of the ocean. The picture was exposed at night over a longer period of time, so that it defines neither space nor time, something the musicians of Ensemble Barockin' particularly liked for this very special recording of this work by Bach. Music without space and time like a reverberation of the universe - for this, it was added a Morse code to the text on the cover that makes the composer's name sound through space like an echo JOHANN SEBASTIAN BACH

The present of Korean pianist Sunhwa Park is an extremely attractive musical reading. The artist decided to present a number of works from the output of three, little-known today, composers active in the 19th and 20th centuries, which can satisfy the lovers of repertoire treats. The album opens with Songs, Op. 8 by Fanny Mendelssohn, a talented composer and pianist, older sister of Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy. The following compositions are two fragments from the cycle Soirées Musicales, Op. 6 by Clara Schumann, showing the talent of the composer on the basis of musical genres representative of the Romantic era. The album closes with selected works by one of the most acclaimed American composers, Amy Beach.
