Matteo Napoli - Keyboard Sonatas 1 - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Album Tracks 1. Symphony in a 2. Harp Concerto in E Flat Major

In his song settings, Korngold pursued the Romantic ideal and lavished considerable care and inventiveness on their composition. His seemingly effortless gift for melody is everywhere ap-parent in this second volume (Vol.1is on 8.572027), whether in the early works or the songs from the 1940s, which would not sound out of place in an operetta or a Broadway musical. Also present, notably in the Drei Gesänge, Op.18, is an exciting, experimental approach to harmony that reflects the music of his most radical opera, Das Wunderder Heliane (8.660410-12). Album Tracks 1. Lieder Des Abschieds FÜR Alt Und Klavier, Op. 14 2. Drei Gesänge FÜR Mittlere Singstimme Und Klavier, Op. 18 3. The Constant Nymph - Morgen, Op. 33 4. Five Songs for Medium Voice and Piano, Op. 38 5. Sonett FÜR Wien, Op. 41 6. Lieder Aus Dem Nachlass 7. Etwas Ganz Persönliches 8. Lieder Aus Dem Nachlass

Known as Il Buranello after his island birthplace of Burano, opera composer Baldassare Galuppi was also admired as a keyboard player. His sonatas are quiet, refined gems of the utmost elegance and lyricism, with expressive contrasts ranging from poignant operatic aria style movements to the energetic influence of Scarlatti. This selection includes late works from the Passatempo al Cembalo. Matteo Napoli has been praised for his Inchenviable poiseInch (International Record Review) in volume 1 (8.572263) and Inchfinely nuancedInch playing (Fanfare) in volume 2 (8.572490). Matteo Napoli captured worldwide attention winning many competitions, including First Prize in the International Liszt Competition at Lucca in 1986. He has performed in Europe, as well as in New York, Mexico City, San Paolo, Japan, Australia, China and Malaysia. Album Tracks 1. Sonata in D minor, Illy 66 2. Allegro in C Major, Illy 30 3.
