About this product
This album presents the songs from The Threepenny Opera in a new French translation by Alexandre Pateau. The recording was made at the 2023 Festival d'Aix-en-Provence during the run of the new production of the legendary work by Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill in collaboration with Elisabeth Hauptmann, which features the troupe of the Comédie-Française and the musicians of Le Balcon, conducted by Maxime Pascal with Thomas Ostermeier as stage director. In this parody of an opera, the songs are the driving force behind the action and the characters ape the bourgeois lifestyle of the audience, the better to denounce the period of moral confusion they are going through. With Maxime Pascal at the helm of a dozen multi-instrumentalists from Le Balcon, we hear a version based on that of the first performance - hard-hitting and as close as possible to the tremendous creative energy deployed by the two creators of the work in the summer of 1928 - acted and sung by the troupe of the Comédie-Française, who rise to all it's challenges with brio. Other special features of this album are a previously unrecorded song on a text by Yvette Guilbert and the linking texts between the songs read in French by Ostermeier himself. As Diapason wrote of this production, 'Almost a century after it's premiere, The Threepenny Opera has lost none of it's subversive power

The troupe of the Comédie-Française pays tribute to Serge Gainsbourg in a musical show that has enjoyed great success. Six actors, singers and musicians from the company perform songs and excerpts from interviews 'We have focused on the amorous, sensual side of Gainsbourg. On the one hand, there's the music, on the other, the man himself, with his repartee, his irreverent, subversive spirit... We have given pride of place to all his emblematic songs, which the younger generation doesn't necessarily know.' Stéphane Varupenne and Sébastien Pouderoux (the duo who adapted the words and music), Benjamin Lavernhe, Noam Morgensztern, Rebecca Marder and Yoann Gasiorowski 'reinvent thirteen classics by the maestro, and it's quite simply stunning', wrote Le Figaro, which ranked the show as one of the must-sees of 2022. And here is the original cast album!

Limited 180gm yellow vinyl LP pressing in gatefold jacket. Demolition is the first studio album by the British heavy metal band, Girlschool. It was originally released in 1980. It was produced by experienced sound engineer Vic Maile. Demolition reached No. 28 in the UK Albums Chart, following the rising of the new wave of British heavy metal phenomenon. The tour supporting the album included high-profile support slots to Black Sabbath and Uriah Heep shows. On 20 August, Girlschool and Motörhead were filmed performing live at the Nottingham Theatre Royal for the Rockstage programme, broadcast by the ATV station on 4 April 1981. In this period, the band was subjected to intense media coverage by music magazines, radio and TV, interested in the novelty of a successful British all-female metal band. The barrage of interviews and promotion did not stop the production of songs and the girls released the new single InchYeah RightInch in November 1980.

Opera-comique emerged in the 19th century as an intermediary between grand opera and burlesque operetta. This album charts it's progression as a distinct genre, tracing the origins from Boieldieu and Mehul early in the century via the classic vitality of masters such as Herold and Maillart into the operetta style of Offenbach and Lecocq. With innovative features, colorful orchestration, drama, wit and atmospheric writing, the operas proved very popular and these overtures encapsulate their immense vivacity and charm.
