About this product
To all appearances, May Brennan has it all - intelligence, looks, the recipient of raves from her recently published book and set to marry her loving Fiance Ziad, a distinguished New York scholar. But immediately upon returning to her hometown of Amman, Jordan for the wedding, the cracks in her seemingly perfect life begin to show. May's headstrong, born-again Christian mother Nadine disapproves of Ziad's Muslim faith and is firm in her decision to not attend the ceremony. Her sisters Dalia and Yasmine revert to behaving like rebellious teenagers as their estranged father Edward awkwardly attempts to make amends. Confronted with the wounds of her parents' long-broken relationship, coupled with the unavoidable clash of old-world and modern values, May is led to question the direction her life is taking. Her once carefully structured world appears to unravel as she grapples with her own truths in this fresh, exotic look at a woman caught in the crossroads between tradition and choice.

Le Temps D'Un Ete [BLU-RAY] Canada - Import Released 2023 product/publication from Immina
Summer and Smoke is based on a play by Tennessee Williams (expanded from his one-act piece InchEccentricities of the NightingaleInch). from childhood, Alma (Geraldine Page) has loved John Buchanan (Laurence Harvey). Repressed by an environment ruled by a minister-father (Malcolm Atterbury) and a mother (Una Merkel) who has never recovered for a nervous breakdown, she keeps her feelings inside. Her life becomes unbearable when John returns from medical school and takes up with the sultry Rosa (Rita Moreno), the daughter of the casino owner (Thomas Gomez) who is as open and willing, as Alma is shy and repressed. Geraldine Page delivers a smoldering, stellar performance, which won her the Golden Globe and the National Board of Review Best Actress Awards. The film received 4 Academy Award nominations, including Best Actress (Page), Best Supporting Actress (Merkel), Best Music (Elmer Bernstein) and Best Art Direction-Set Decoration. The wonderful cast includes John McIntire, Earl Holliman and Pamela Tiffin in her film debut. Beautifully directed by DGA nominee, Peter Glenville (Becket).
For siblings Eva (Sasha Calle) and Violeta (Lio Mehiel), contact with their addict father Vicente (Residente) while growing up had been limited to their summer visitations at his Las Cruces, New Mexico home. The ebbs and flows of a difficult familial bond, as shown via four separate trips over a 20-year span, are tellingly laid out in writer-director Alessandra Lacorazza's semi-autobiographical opus. Leslie Grace, Kimaya Thais, Dreya Castillo, Allison Salinas, Luciana Elisa Quinonez co-star. 95 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack English.
