Melba Moore - Read My Lips - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

First time ever on CD in the USA for Melba Moore's 1976 album Melba, remastered from the original master tapes. Melba (or Melba 76 as it s referred to avoid confusion with Melba's 1978 on Epic which shares the same title) marked Moore's second collaboration with producer Van McCoy, who on this outing shared production duties with song-writing partner Charles Kipps. This Is It, (released earlier in 1976) had been somewhat of a commercial breakthrough for the Tony award and Grammy nominated actress/singer the title track reached the Billboard Hot 100, the top twenty position on the R&B chart and was a top ten success in England, while the ballad Lean On Me earned Moore a third Grammy nomination. Although not as commercially successful as it's predecessor, Melba is an equally cohesive slice of polished, sophisticated dance/soul material. Limited edition of 2,000.

First time ever on CD and expanded with 2 bonus tracks, remastered from the original master tapes. In 1977 the album 'A Portrait Of Melba' was released, which contained the popular McFadden & Whitehead, penned and produced, dancer 'Standing Right Here' (the song was later to appear in a remixed on 1979's, 'Dancin' With Melba' album). Limited edition of 2,000.

Now remastered for the first time on CD with a bonus track, Dancin With Melba isn't just a long awaited treat for Moore fans and disco fanatics, but it might come as a revelation to a younger generation of fans turned on by classic dance sounds and willing to listen to disco with open minds and ears. When the compilation Dancin With Melba was originally issued at the height of the disco boom in 1979, Melba Moore was already a favorite of the disco scene. Songs like Standing Right Here and Promised Land were guaranteed to pack dance floors at legendary nightspots like Flamingo and The Paradise Garage, yet the original mixes simply weren't long enough to fuel the transcendent, marathon dance floor sessions that led many a clubber to disco heaven. Enter the 6 extended cuts that comprise Dancin With Melba, re-mixed by the late Richie Rivera an unsung hero from the now mythic underground New York disco scene that spawned legends like the late Larry Levan and Nicky Siano, to name a few. Limited edition of 2,000.
